Why the value of DEC matters

The most recent proposals from the Splinterlands team all go into one direction which is to give value to DEC. At the moment, DEC is way below it's intended peg and this causes troubles not only for the Splinterlands company but for the whole ecosystem.

In the video, I try to show why DEC matters so much and I propose a solution that would help to reach the peg in a sustainable manner.

Thanks for the great explanation. I think the burning of 1% or less on each purchase is a far more favourable situation than creating another new token... It looks like DEC-B is coming though...

It looks like it will go through. I don't really believe that fighting an oversupply by creating another token is a solution but I hope I'm wrong...

I just bought a load of Dec today. Should I expect it to moon soon then? Lol

I don't think DEC-B works to push the value up. I am afraid that until the bull market returns, it will be difficult for the token to recover value. But there is no denying that they are trying.

It seems that DEC-B will go through. Hopefully it will allow to increase the price of DEC...

Thanks for sharing these additional details, I knew about a few of them but not others. It is always good to have the larger picture to understand how everything works. Take care.

There are a lot of wheels that turn to form the whole ecosystem. Unfortunately every new token makes the system more complex and it gets more difficult to take adapted measures. That's why I don't think that a new token is the solution.

I agree with your outlook and I think the transaction costs being burnt or getting sent back to Splinterlands to pay salary makes more sense. Was there a reason why all of the fees go toward the front-end markets? I just feel that Splinterlands itself is at a disadvantage even if they can sell packs/potions to earn an income.

I'm not totally sure whether SL gets a cut of whether they get 100% of the fees. I believe SL wanted to make sure that 3rd parties have an incentive to develop tools around the game.

Thanks for sharing! At the end of the day, I think the best way is to work on the gameplay especially for new players because right now, the system doesn't even attract new players.

For example, the bronze battles are giving out barely 0.01 SPS per win and the SPS in the bronze chest rewards are giving out 0.005 SPS or even lesser. And let's say they never give up, they would accumulate until 1 SPS after a week or two so they are finally able to claim. After claiming, if they want to use the SPS (e.g. for rentals or to take profit), they need to unstake it and wait another 4 weeks. Not sure how anyone would be interested in this game mechanics to spend an initial amount of money.

I think we are fortunate that we are in before this whole SPS reward system began and we have already accumulated some assets and some cards so it's fine. But for those who start from zero, it would be hard.

For newbies it can definitely be very frustrating to play the game. The income has become very small and it's difficult to win enough to actually finance the game with the earnings.
