Is Play To Earn Officially Dead?
In this video, I discuss the recent announcement from Golem Overlord about the current status of the game and where it is headed to in the future. Yixn, the lead developer for GO, claims that Play To Earn does not work and even calls out some of the missteps in Splinterlands to prove his point which is what prompted me to dig a little further. The truth is, we haven't seen a sustainable model outside of Splinterlands so far. Many games were VC funded and are either dead or on life support. Splinterlands has survived for 8 years and whether or not you can call that sustainable, it's more than we've seen anywhere else in the space. It gives me a lot of confidence and optimism for what the team and community are attempting to build.

If I'm active or not at the moment in Splinterlands, it doesn't matter. Splinterlands is and will always be my baby that I will defend with all hands and legs.
Splinterlands really doesn't get enough credit for what it is from outside voices.

There's no way it is dead. But people certainly aren't able to make large sums of money anymore now that all the VC Funds and startup money has dried up and left the market. What you are left with are people who play the game for fun and reinvest whatever little earnings they receive back into the game. That's the fun!
