Step-by-Step Instructions on how to Advance to Gold League- Quickly, Easily and Cheaply!

Step 1 Renting the cards you'll want/need for the deck
You'll want to rent these cards for 2 days- after that, Peak Monsters gives you the option of extending the rentals.
Get THE CHEAPEST L3+ Dragon Summoner you can find (Probably Drake or Bloom)
Then, rent some/all of the following cards:
IF you got DRAKE:
The Drake of Arnak gives +1 Armor to all monsters- negating the first hit
TANKS
Dragon Spirit (L3)
Gloridax Soldier (L3/4)
Naga Brute (L5 but only if you've got a L4 Drake)
Chrome Dragon (L2) or Robo-Dragon

2nds
Manticore (L2)
Black Dragon (L2)
Diamond Dragon

Attackers
Halfling (might be too much)
Grenadier (L3)
Highland Archer (if not L4, don't bother)
Dragon Spitter (L3, if you can)
Goblin Chariot (L3+ or don't bother)
Mantoid (L4 or don't bother)
Lightning Dragon (L2)
Dragon Jumper

IF you got BLOOM:
Bighton Bloom gives all monsters Flying- making them immune to Earthquake AND harder to hit.
TANKS
Dragon Spirit (L3)
Naga Brute (L5, if you got a L4 Bloom)
Almo Cambio (L2)
Robo Dragon (Super Stud, w/Bloom!)

Attackers
Halfling (might be too much)

Highland Archer (if not L4, don't bother)

STEP 2 rent some supplemental cards for secondary Splinters
Whichever Splinter(s) you choose for seconds- you MAY want to rent a L3 Summoner for, as well. This is in case Dragon isn't an option, then you can Battle with the cards you rent plus the F2P ones.
FIRE:Serpentine Spy (L4), Fire Demon, Phineas Rage (L3)
Water Crustacean King, Medusa (L3), Lobstradomus, Azmare Harpoonist, Wave Runner
Earth Screeching Vulture (L4), Goblin Sorcerer (L4), Wood Nymph, Goblin Thief (L4), Beatrix (L2 ), Centauri Mage (L3)
LIFE Armorsmith (if you got Drake), OR Truthspeaker (if you got Bloom), Divine Healer (L3), Peacebringer (L3), Cave Slug (L3 or don't bother), Bila th Radiant

IF you managed to get a L4 Bloom a L4 Serpentine Soldier and a L4 Serpent of Eld are UNGODLY pickups! High Speed, Dodge AND Flying- make them nearly unhittable.

STEP 3 Battle!
This is where it gets tricky- it all depends on what you got and what the ruleset is. Bring the most unhittable Tank you can, put a good 2nd behind him. Grab the best 3 Attackers you can afford and a Healer. Make sure the 2nd most unhittable thing you have is in the back and cross your fingers!

With this setup- should win you 80-90% of your games in Bronze and Silver. Playing 25 games/day- you'll gain ~200 rating, everyday, and you should clear about 1,000 DEC/day. It won't take more than 4-5 days of playing these decks to reach GOLD League!

A few final points:
If you're seeing a lot of Magic- rent a couple of units with high health and reflect.
Don't drop your current deck- Dragons complement existing cards, when they're available.
Dragons were CHEAP, when I wrote this- they were all renting for <20 DEC/day, some even cheaper! Don't overspend on rentals! 4-500 DEC/day should be your limit to build these decks.
