Another Day Another Dollar (Proposal!)

Back in the days I used to switch the words a bit and used to say, another day, another Iraqi Dinar; to highlight the fact that Iraqi Dinar was (and is) worthless, but I knew a few individuals in northern Iraq who would bury a hole in the ground at their backyard to stash some Iraqi Dinar in hope that 'someday' they will have some value. This is a true story and these are not unique individuals either! As Roy Miller said in Knight and Day "Someday. That's a dangerous word. It's really just a code for 'never'"

I don't know if SPS is like Iraqi Dinar. I hope not! However, many of us are definitely stashing it in a hole at our backyard though. Oh wait! Wait! Before I go all dark on you, I must say currently SPS does have an use. It can be used as a governance tool to vote as per our stake. Phew! That is already better than Iraqi Dinar!

Ok, with that long preamble let me get to the point of the recent SPS proposal forwarded as a preview (pre-proposal) by the Splinterlands Team. The proposal asks for DEC/DEC-B (which will be burned) from the landowners to purchase three items: Building in a Box, Time Vault, Unstable Totem. These are 'new' land items that no one knows what they do in practice (other than a few lines written on the post iteself), but we are asked to pay 10K DEC for each! Hey guys, that is a bit more than a "Fistful of Dollars"!

Well my answer is NO.

Here are my reasonings:

1. I mentioned clearly in the past, without the publication of "Land Whitepaper", any land related proposal that is asking for additional money will get a NO vote from me.

2. Price of these three items are arbitrary. There is no way to value the utility of these items. It will be difficult to value them even with a whitepaper. Typically value of these items are understood and realized only after they are implimented.

3. Community already voted NO for a previous itiration of this proposal where it was pushed as a 'land survey tax', lack of of better word. That proposal failed less than a month back. Nothing have changed since we voted NO for a similar 'burning DEC starts SPS fly-wheel' proposal.

A message to stakeholders who is considering to vote YES

Look folks. Please do not be a victim. I have spent substantial money on this game without ever thinking about rewards. No matter what others might say, that has always been my stance. I like this game to be successful for everyone. Largre investors to play-to-earn scholars to casual players all have a role to play in this game. With that in mind please listen what I say.

Please don't be a victim.

What I mean by that, you may think if you do this you might save money, it might be good for the game. Believe me, you don't know that. Nobody does. When you buy a product without knowing what it does it is speculation. Now, you might say, the whole crypto is a speculation. Yes. But knowing that you can't recommend to your loved one to put all their life savings on Dogecoin. Can you? May be you can, maybe you will get lucky, but should you?

All I am asking is for the team to provide more information. Not just a blurb on discord, or half a paragraph of half-baked words on a post, but a whitepaper, which the Team already promised. That makes things official and easy for the investor to act.

For those altruistic people who just want to BURN DEC, I recommend you please send it to 'null'. There is already a method and process. You do not need to ask for permission to do that. You will feel good and you will do good for the game. You do not need a proposal for that. If you ask me, I am all for greater good, but I find it silly to throw away value, and I also am against giving any handout.

So please consider your actions and consider to vote NO to this proposal.
