5 in 1 - My favorite battles and the lessons learned

Prologue
This week I didn't really have a favorite strategy or something that is worth highlighting and writing a long post about - but I have 5 battles that I found peculiar and/or exciting, and I learned quite a few things. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Battle 1 - Enraging Earthquake
Bronze-League Tournament, 30 Mana, Earthquake and Enrage-for-everyone-Ruleset
Tactic: High speed flying magic monsters combined with Sthispa to give them phase. Night Reaper as a flying-monster-killer. Martyrs around the speed monsters to give them more speed (and everything else).
Enemy: Cryptic giving poison to two monsters. Three flying monsters in the team with decent speed - and my monsters' health and speed gets reduced.

This battle was incredibly close. Nightreaper did 5 damage on the Deceiver, but got hit with poison. He survived, bareley, and was able to kill the Deceiver in the second round, before being struck down as well. The Peryton gets up to 4 Damage and 7 speed thanks to the martyrs. After being hit by the Will-o-Wisp, its speed gets up to 11 and he avoids a few attacks. But after hitting the Riftwing, that one gets up to 6 speed and manages to land a hit on the Peryton and applying poison that eventually kills the peryton. After being hit by the Riftwing, the Huntress has enough speed to hit it - and the melee-damage bonus from enraging helps to end the battle.

Battle 2 - Oh, Olivia! Not THAT ability!
Wild Bronze Tournament, 59 Mana, High-Speed-Units only, and every attack hits.
Tactic: Shieldpaw to avoid Opportunity, with Agor at the end to be healed by Triage. Almbo as tank, trained by the Ferexian. Sevaya for extra armor and cleansing. Djinn Inferni to do double damage on high-mana-monsters, that are very likely with 59 Mana. Night Reaper for eventual flying units and because it's just a banger card.
Enemy: Killer line-up! Ilthain against flying and for more speed. Goblin Mech with piercing. Bosun with reach. Silvershield assassin with double attack and sneak. Olivia, Opportunity and Mimic. Silvershield Sherrif with high damage and snipe, and Iziar as back-line tank with void.

Attacks are flying around. Due to the lack of a flying monster, Reaper as well as Agor and Inferni attack Iziar, bringing it down to 6. Agor gets healed back up to max health, but lost its armor. At the beginning of Round 2, Olivia mimics - FLYING! From all abilities, she gets the one that makes her food for the Reaper. Taking her out quickly was important. Almo and Agor survive with 1 LP, but Ferexian takes down the Mech - very good! Now it's a cascade. The Reaper takes out Iziar, so Inferni can attack the 10-Mana-Monster Bosun and kill it instantly. The sherrif manages to kill Agor, the Assassin takes out Almo - but it's too late. Round 4 is the end.

Battle 3 - One Round is enough: The perfect Ambush
Rebellion Bronze Tournament, 23 Mana, Earthquake, Blast and Gladiators
Tactic - Hurry up! Ambush with Akane for Night Reaper (Earthquake calls for flying) and Katrelba (double strike with blast is nice). Halfling as cannon-fodder.
Enemy - Risquel - perfect for Earthquake, but bad against the Night Reaper. Halfling as mini-tank, Quora as one of the best gladiators, and then the Harpy for an extra attack.

Katrelba brings down the harpy and gets her boost, the reaper does 5 damage on the Halfling - and Quora takes 4 blast damage, since she is flying two (usually 2 + 2 from wingbreaker). Then she takes 2 more melee blast damage. Both my monsters are faster, so they start the round and finish the enemy team of before they can land an attack. Worked out perfectly!

Battle 4 - Death by Blast - Destruction to the Reach-Position
Gold League Tournament, 44 Mana, Knock-Out, Beefcakes and Blast for all.
Tactic: Magic Blast. Shieldpaw to only have the enemy attack my first line. Halfling as tank, Oshannus as second tank with Phase and Forcefield, Shock Trooper as High-Damage (his electroshocks to be healed by Triage), Baakjira as supporter with Weapons Training from Rage, and the Merdaali Guardian as Super-Supporter with the same training.
Enemy: Wow. I'm scared - and glad that I use Shieldpaw. Weapon-trained Baakjira, Kulu-Mastermind, poison-Deeplurker, Fellblade with sneak and dual attack, Soothsayer with heal, cleanse and lookout, and Noa to reduce my armor (I wonder why he wasn't place behind the Mastermind).

It starts as expected - with a lot of blows. The Kulu-Mastermind gets the whole deal of blast damage, even though Baakjira only receives half - so with Rage's 4 damage attack, both receive 2 damage. Since the opponent does not have Triage, that's good for me.
The Kulu survives Round one with 2 LP, the halfling falls, but Oshannus is at good health and gets healed as well. My whole team gets zapped, but fortunatly that is BEFORE the Shieldpaw-Triage (sounds somewhat weird...).
The Shocktrooper falls, so does Kulu, this time the Deeplurker surives with 1 LP. Baakjira is in second position now, which is awesome because he can heal himself from the blast. Unfortunately, the Lurker is able to poison my Oshannus before being killed by blast.
At the beginning of Round 4, my whole leftover-team is healed up, and their Fellblade is down to 6 LP - ready to get killed in that round, and so it comes. Next in line is the Soothsayer, and the fate is the same - Death by Blast. As soon as the healer is gone, my team takes Baakjira down slowly, but steadily, until he falls in Round 11. That card is a beast.

Battle 5 - The Markrat wins me the game in an unexpected way
Wild Novice Tournament, 18 Mana, Rebirth for all, Corrosive Ward
Tactic: Weapons trained Gladiator to collect as many kills and spawn-kills as possible. Cannonfodder everywhere. Marksrat at the end for a Sneak shield to boost the gladiator.
Enemy: Divine Shield for all, weapons training for two units as well. No Sneak :-(

The beginning is as expected, many kills on both sides, many rebirths. My gladiator collects LP via scavenger and gets a kill, too. Starting round 5, it becomes interesting. I have the gladiator left, and the marksrat. The enemy has 5 units left, all with Divine Shield, being reborn with that as well. Helmet's LP are going down quickly - but then comes the synergy with the rat. The rat attacks always after Helmet, taking out the Divine Shield. Then Helmet takes out the enemy unit with one shot.
Since they all have armor, it would have been fatal for my team if the Marksrat didn't hit the Divine Shield. Helmet now gains 1 kill per round, and also 1 life per round for scavenger. He ends the game with +10 on stats, and 33 Max-LP of which he retains 14.

Conclusions
Battle 1: Sthispa in an Enrage-Setting is really helpful. If it wasn't for the poison, the Peryton would've been hard to take down. Night Reaper is just a beast in this ruleset.
Battle 2: Again it's Night Reaper making the game with that Olivia kill. Even though she can be an OP monster, Olivia is always a gamble - one has to remember that.
Battle 3: This worked out so perfectly it's inconceivable. Very great game, again, the Night Reaper makes the biggest effect. Good to know that its blast also gets Wingbreak.
Battle 4: Very awesome battle, learned some more about blast and how it works. The fact that Baakjira just survives until the end, and all the other monsters get killed by blast, is just funny and shows the kind of monster that whale is. No Night Reaper here, though.
Battle 5: The Divine Shield effect is very interesting, and incredibly strong in Rebirth - I know that now. But so is a gladiator in rebirth, especially one with Scavenger.
Overall a great week of battles. I didn't finish really good in the Gold tournament (90th I think), but did make back my investment. In the other tournaments, I got into the second round in most of them, until being thorned down by Tofu. Still, I earned some nice SPS that are staked now.
