Opening 100 Packs So You Don't Have To! + Giveaway

With the recent surge in card prices its becoming harder and harder to buy singular cards. So where does that leave us? Buying packs!

But will buying packs even bring us a profit? I'm putting my money where my mouth is to find out for everyone.

Total Costs

(We are going to use 1000 dec/dollar to calculate costs and profits. And purchase potions to maximize profits)


100 packs at $2/pack = $200
+
500 legendary potions at ~.4 cents/potion = $19
+
500 Alchemy Potions at ~.5 cents/potion = $23.75

TOTAL COSTS = $242.75

Now the fun part, opening packs!

For the sake of time and space I will be using the peakmonsters website to calculate pack value when opening them as well as only showing packs of high value to save space.

Time to total them up.

Total Earnings = $179.42 or about 1.79 a pack

Sadly we did lose $63.33 but what we gained will help us in battles and will continue to grow in price as Splinterlands gets more and more popular.

We must also remember that while the average return is $1.79 a pack, most packs are worth 20-60 cents so if you only open a couple packs expect that amount back unless you get extremely lucky. Looks like buying singles is still the way to go... at least for now 😉

Interesting fact - Untamed packs are going for about $1.70 in wax.atomichub which is very close to the average value we got.

You got a lot of card. I never bought 100 packs before. I always wish to have Scarred Llama Mage. It is my favorite summoner card. It is very expensive to buy and it is hard to get in packs or quests.

Thanks for sharing your booster-loot report. Haven't been lucky to get a legendary yet myself. I'm pretty sure that the value of your cards will rise over time and you will break even.
I wonder how the result would have been without using the potions.

I'm still looking for a Brownie to use in my earth deck.

Wow mate, that's a bold move to open 100 packs! I'm sorry that you didn't get you investment back, but I'm sure those goldfoils will be worth in the future!

I just found out about the PeakRider and it made all the difference in my deck after i rented it. But it's impossible to get him now a days...

Sorry to hear that your investment didn't pay for itself. On the bright side, you got some nice Golds and Legendaries.

I guess I haven't played enough, I am having problems getting either one of those (Golds OR Ledendaries). I have heard you actually earn more DEC when have GF and you win. I know Legendary Summoners are out of this world when your still in Bronze (like me). :)

Great idea to show people that buying cards on the market is more interesting. You got really lucky pulling that GFL. Imagine you didn't.... you would only have had a return of $118 for the $242 you paid
