Are Bots Killing Splinterlands?

The biggest complaint in Splinterlands right now is regarding bots. Bots are claiming more and more of the reward pool with only a minimal investment. Do bots need banned?

I am guessing since I am building out my deck with the new reward cards the flood of cheap reward cards from bots is actually playing in my favor :) It is nice to be able to level up to level 8 for something like $23-$26

Bots are claiming more and more of the reward pool with only a minimal investment.

The owners of the bots are basically earning Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) and reward cards as a passive income. Good for them. But are the bots getting any unfair advantage over the real players? I remember playing against bots. They came with the standard, typical, basic cards into the battle. I often defeated them. As I remember, some of them even surrendered, but maybe those were real players. But this was months ago. Nowadays I do not meet many bots. I mostly battle against real players.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they solve this, as you say I also trust them to make the best decision. I don't use bots. I tried them some months ago, but I gave up because they failed a lot, and I lost all the battles.

I agree that there should be a balance and that the game has to keep evolving and have good tokenomics so it can survive. And I also agree that they should not block users from playing, which would centralize the game.

Yes, I read your post. And I agree, the best thing is that the community reaches a consensus, and the people that have SPS staked can decide this.

Maybe the free cards could have limited uses, maybe some cooldown, and if you buy cards, your limits could be increased. If you sell or transfer cards, they are reduced. Just an idea.

Thank you, It would be my absolute pleasure that you liked and read my blog. Yes, thats a wonderful idea. We should first detect bots and then apply these punishments.

The biggest issue is the combination of allowing both multiple accounts and bots at the same time. That is what makes this so exploitable. I've slowly come to leaning towards the fact that we need to limit having multiple accounts rather than bots themselves. If people are limited to one account in Splinterlands then botting would not be a big issue as you would be turning your account passive with theoretically less skill.

Allowing multiple accounts with bots encourages exponential growth of bot accounts as can be seen with the 100+ accounts of each of ru-bots, rusbots, neminers, enminers and so on. Basically they can just continuously grow in accounts at essentially an exponential rate.

I agree. But how easy is this to implement? Bots can change IPs easily.
