@bulldog1205 I think the change that you described makes sense to institute and hopefully will be instituted.

But I think think whole idea of what is considered cheating or not is a construct that we decide to put ourselves in.

For instance... the way that people do the high jump today (The Fosbury Flop) wasn't done until 1968 - before that, everyone did their high jumps in a way that looked more similar to how people run hurdles.

Part of the ethos crypto is having the outcomes we desire be able to be coded effectively rather than relying strictly on social constructs and good will - so a part of any game like this is to see if there are ways to gain an edge.

People have a right to gain that edge if they can find it - yet at the same time, the Devs have the right to plug those gaps with better code as well.

Yeah, this is cheating. There's no construct about it. You play a card game, one of the basic mechanics is that you don't know your opponent's hand.

If you play a card game with a friend IRL, and you see their cards in a window reflection or mirror, you're cheating. Even though that mirror is known to be there.

It's the same with the blockchain. That ability to "see" is there. Taking advantage of it is a dick move. It's cheating. It's poor sportsmanship.

Fairness is also a construct, if you want to use that argument. And it's the assumption we all have when we sit at a table to play together.

@starbork I get the sentiment about it, and don't even disagree that it should be patched.

The thing I disagree about is assigning "real world" rules to something that isn't in the "real world"

Who's to decide what aspects are part of the game or not. Why are the rules exclusively tied to the meta game and not the code that surrounds it?

"Cheating" assumes breaking a rule - where is the rule stated? And if it is a rule, why isn't it just coded that way?

Cheating and sportsmanship are not one and the same.

It's good sportsmanship to stop and help a person up if they fell while you were in a race - but it's' not cheating to keep running.

It's cheating if there's a rule that you''re not supposed to see your opponents cards but figure out a way to do so.

It's not cheating if seeing someone's cards is a skillset that could be part of the game. For instance... if you're in a room full of mirrors and part of the game is to see your own cards without revealing them to others - that's a skill in the game, not cheating.

Games are made of rules, we decide what they are and the devs haven't apparently decided that there's a coded rule about not seeing opponents cards... even though it's easy to do.

I see what you're saying. I disagree, but I see what you're saying.

What a weird meta we've got right now. I'm curious what it will look like in another year. (I'm going to bet we'll have fewer bots / exploiters and that they'll be shaken out by then) Until then, have some !PIZZA

I think you're right - from what I can tell I think the seeing of other's cards is not part of the intention and will be "coded" out of the game.

I'm not sure exactly how much it's impacting things right now though.

I thinkt he updates to the rewards will definitely go a long way to decreasing the number of bots just by nature of the investment vs. the reward required.

Thanks for the Pizza :) All mine is currently in LPs or I'd share a slice with you as well!

Really appreciate the conversation regardless. I wish you nothing but Gold Foil Legendaries in all your loot chests ;)

I'm definitely not an OG player, but I'm not a recent bandwagoner either. As with most games I play, I'm a filthy casual. I spend money, but I'm no whale. I enjoy the game, but I'm a terrible strategist / theorycrafter. So, I almost have enough owned card power to hit silver 3, but not quite there yet. Once I make my CL purchases, I'll be there.

So until then, I am and have always been a Bronze League player. I've definitely seen a change in how games play out since I started, and while at face value, the changes to rewards should make me mad if I were to follow the crowd, I'm excited for them.

Sure, rewards will change, but there will still be rewards. I think Bronze meta will become more fun, and it's still just a short jump to Silver 3. All in all, I'm excited about the rewards changes.

Good luck in your battles.

Hey buddy! Thanks for the tip...
Am I the only one who doesn't have the switch option "Wait to reveal team..." in his settings? Am I missing something?
