I Paid Actual Money For Quest Potions

So I just ended my first week of Gameplay in Splinterlands and I'm slowly learning. But I mean really slowly. It's going to take me a while to not only learn the ins and outs of the game but just the ins.

I was feeling pretty proud of myself for winning my daily quests. It probably takes me longer than most folks, even newbs, but through an awful lot of losing I eventually win. And while it feels great, it's awfully disappointing when you open your chest and it's a single low-end prize.

I had read in passing about Quest Potions and how they add additional chests to your daily quests and I figure why not. I'm determined to do my quests every day so why not buy the promo and get 11 for the price of 10. I paid with credits which I bought with PayPal for $7.50 so I'm actually investing real money into the game.

I figure I'll do my part, which means pay to play instead of just play to earn. I'm not sure if this spend was the best strategy but my mindset right now is to just play. I'm not worried about maximizing my earnings but staying interested in the game. And, while I'm currently entitled to only 1 chest from a quest, getting 5 seems like the best way to have fun at the moment.

So here is what I got from my first Quest potion. I would love to hear from the OG's what is the best use of $7.50 to maximize profit over time. Perhaps buying a $7.50 card, DEC or SPS? Learning about this stuff is part of my fun so lay it on me.

I picked up some legendary and gold potions today myself. I also bought about 15 of the DICE packs. I pulled a nice little card that was worth $100. Not sure what I will do with it yet...

Hello,
Like you i was skeptical towards quest potion when I begain to play (some month ago), Im still am. But like you I heard that some player got amazingly good rewards with the potion.
So I started to investigate it in my blog. Im doing 30 days experiment to see if in the long run the quest potion is worth the investment.
you can check my latest post here.

The short answer for the question is yes the quest potion is worth it.
But:

  1. its only worth it when you buy it with credits! (dec worth way too much to spend it on potion, I guess you can sell your dec and buy potion with hive...)
  2. you buying a bunch (at least the 10) for the free charge.
  3. you stick to it for periof of time (last week I draw some garbage rewards, this week Im doing great!)

come check my blog for a smarter decisoin on the potion (Im still cant say for sure its worth it but at least for now im got +2400 dec profit)...

good luck!

I'm coming to the realization that the notion of "play to earn" is a bit of a lie. It's more accurate to say "Pay to Play, to earn." Because unless your gifted some starting items on these games, than you first need to pay in order to play, if you want to play at all.

Actually once you 'buy' the spellbook you can easily open 5 chests per season. Which unless you are very unlucky they will actually 'earn' you cards or DEC.
So yeah that 'play to earn'.
But if you want to earn more then sure, go ahead and level up some cards are move into higher leagues.
So what it actually is it's "Pay to Play and Earn More"

Some games are easier to play without paying, but in general you need more patience and time to pay nothing at all. Splinterlands does require the spellbook to really play so it's not a free start, but getting in early can help start other games for free. Games like Alien Worlds on Wax wasn't very hard to start for free especially a few months ago (not saying you should start now...)

I think the Quest Potions are risky, but definitely the best potential investment of 7.50 into the game.

You're getting 5x the chances to get special legendaries, epics, and cards are at an all time high. If you earn just 1 Card each day, and 100 DEC from those 5 chests, you've made back your investment. any card. That, is of course, if you decided that Potions have 0 Value. If you value potions and plan to buy packs, you will almost definitely profit in the long run.

There will be absolutely days where you go negative, but all it takes is one Legendary, 1 Gold Foil, 1 2000 DEC reward and you're suddenly netting positive for the investment.

Assuming you buy them with Credits of course :P

Interesting. I was just thinking that it is more fun to open 5 chests than 1 since I know that I will be doing my daily quests at least while I'm super pumped on the game. Who knows if I'll still like it in a couple of weeks.

I don't use the quest potions. It just doesn't seem worth it to me but I have seen people get some nice rewards.
