Happy Sunday to all.
So, enjoying the day with relaxing and playing Splinterlands? I am doing the same thing and I felt I have a battle which is suited for this week's SHARE YOUR BATTLE weekly challenge and here I am gonna share the details of the same.
Dragons is a vast theme as we have many awesome monsters from Dragons category and Screeching Vulture and Dragon Jumper are my favorite combo monsters from that category.
OK, let me share this battle detail for this challenge.

Dragons, as mentioned, are something we use on daily basis and each of the splinters treat those with utmost respect because of the value those add to the lineup we use.
We now have dragons from all the 3 different attack types viz melee, magic and ranged and there is always a probability of high win percentage when we use dragons.

Battle and Lineup:

For this battle, there was a MANA cap of just 15 and I felt my usual Earth splinter lineup as used below will be good one to win this.
Each of those 6 monsters I used had a role to play in this including the famous Zero MANA cost Furious Chicken too.
Here I am providing the details of lineup I used.

Lineup:

1. Failed Summoner:

The low MANA cap made me to use this at the front and to utilize it's abilities of magic reflect and demoralize.
More than the abilities, it's 7 health will also play an important role in such low MANA cost battles.

2. Fungus Fiend:

This Chaos Legion edition Zero MANA cost monster and other ones introduced newly are an alternative to Furious Chicken and these are of great use in certain rule set battles such as Equalizer and I used it here to protect the other monster to follow from getting exposed early.

3. Screeching Vulture:

y main melee attack monster for this battle was Screeching Vulture as this can give 4 melee attack with Daria Dragonscale summoner and Brownie also used to speed up and inspire these melee monster.

4. Brownie:

Brownie is a regular in my battles involving Earth splinter and it's a great 1 MANA cost monster to change the course of the battle as the additional speed may totally change the battle.

5. Javelin Thrower:

This is another monster I use a lot just because of it's high ranged attack with great speed and it can also pierce thru armors to reduce the main health.

Since this was target practice rule set battle and this monster with it's ability of dodge can even evade the ranged and melee attack, I felt this will be good one for this battle.

6. Furious Chicken:

Lastly, our usual Zero MANA cost monster of Furious Chicken was used as there was a vacant spot to be filled.

Opponent used monsters the famous Selenia Sky summoner to give +1 ranged attack and accordingly, he used more of ranged attack monsters in the form of Pelacor Conjurer, Silvershield Bard, Fiendish Harpy, Lesnmaster, Tower Griffin and Naga Assassin.

Battle:

Round 1:

The less MANA cost battles as we have seen, will always be trickier ones. One wrong selection of monster can wind up the battle very quickly.
In this round, as expected, Javelin Thrower claimed the First blood by removing Lensmaster before it could attack and Fiendish Harpy accounted for removal of Furious Chicken from my lineup.

Round 2:

Another round of fierce battle to remove a monster from each side.
While the Silvershield Bard was the next target for Screeching Vulture, Javelin Thrower was under radar for Fiendish Harpy and both these opportunity monsters didn't fail in their job.
That reduced the monster count on each side to 4.

Round 3:

Another round and another monster from each side had to bow out with Tower Griffin removed by Screeching Vulture and Fungus Field was the target for Fiendish Harpy.

Round 4:

With Fiendish Harpy the monster with lowest health on opponent's side, Screeching Vulture removed it to make a progress in this battle.

Round 5:

The front monsters were silent spectators so far with both of those being no attack monsters and all the attack until this round was targeted to Second line monsters.
In this round, Failed Summoner was targeted by Naga Assassin and got removed.

Round 6, 7 and 8:

It took 2 rounds to remove the Pelacor Conjurer and then, another round to remove the Naga Assassin to win this battle.

Questions and Answers:

Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?

I think it was a good lineup with Screeching Vulture and Javelin Thrower being the main monsters for me, but, even other monsters used including Furious Chicken and Fungus Fiend had a contribution in this win.
Happy with the lineup I used. If not for Javelin Thrower, I could have used Earth Elemental and another 2 MANA monster, but, I think Javelin Thrower was far better here.

Do I like DRAGONS? Why or why not?

I am a big fan of dragons and as I mentioned, I always make use of Daria Dragonscale whenever I feel like I should power up my melee monsters and most of the tile Daria Dragonscale will have Earth splinter as a companion as I love to use combo of Screeching Vulture and Dragon Jumper to keep targeting low MANA monsters while I use a strong front end monster to keep these 2 I mentioned to be longer in the battle.

The battle MANA cap was little, but the battle went for 8 rounds with most of those monster being very competitive.
It was a treat to watch combination of Screeching Vulture and Javelin Thrower getting rid of those monsters.
Thanks for reading and following this battle and I just hope you enjoyed the battle and the blog.

Thanks and Have a great Sunday :)

Nice write up. It is really helpful on how to strategize. I have been on hive longer but never played the game. I am battling games now but is losing most of the time.

Thank you, I have been playing since Splinterlands started and yes, it will take some time to understand and also the leveling up of cards is very much important as there is more competition now with many players getting added daily.

Thanks for the info. Do you think it is enough for players like me - a beginner - to focus on monster health? Where do I know more about the positioning of monsters?

I think there are many help documents on Splinterlands website itself and many battlers will keep posting about help guides.

Regarding positioning of the monsters, normally, we follow melee --> magic --> ranged monsters positioning, but, now, there are many ranged monsters with ability to attack from front position.

So, based on the ruleset, we can select the monsters. As a melee monsters fan, I always try to position a melee monster at the front.

Thanks for the advice. I found the help guide pages. I will read through those posts.
