Dragon Lineup Summary

Greetings Splinterlanders, this week I will be highlighting a rather magic oriented lineup of dragons and the battle that ensued. In this case the only dragon cards I use are Black Dragon, and the summoner. The other cards used are from the death splinter and all at lvl 1. This lineup utilizing high magic damage in an attempt to out-burst the enemy (reflect or void is a popular counter for these sort of lineups).

Strategy and Placement: Meta Machinations

In the battle located here I utilize low health magical creatures from the death and dragon faction. Two of these creatures have life sap, allowing for a greater maximum health. This battle came down to greater damage and sustain, my creatures dealt greater per turn damage and 2 of my units were gaining 2 hp per turn. In the equalizer ruleset where every creature has equal health points this is enough to turn the tide of battle. Additionally my lineup being heavily magic based was a MAJOR advantage against the enemy's fast AND armored lineup, magic bypasses both of these factors.

The enemy had a high damage lineup, but due to the damage not being focused it wasn't able to defeat many minions. My lineup was able to remove numerous enemies by the time my life sappers had advanced forward (Black Dragon, Ancient Lich). The enemies damage was further reduced from Narwhal and Sand Worm both targeting DIFFERENT secondary targets.

Despite this battle seeming like a "solid victory" it was a surprising close lineup choice. If I had chosen melee or ranged I would have likely perished (as both speed AND armor would've been a good counter for physical damage). Ranged/melee being a very popular lineup in both death, dragon, AND water with the current meta in post-chaos legion.

Talking Tidbits: Meta Machinations

Currently Magic is a popular deck choice in the meta at the most current juncture. Across all factions. Reflect and void are staples for counterplay etc. etc. However another way to counter magic is with rapid creatures, because most magic creatures are slow (MOST there are some VERY FAST ones also). Overall magic is here to stay in the meta, across all factions and leagues.
