The anti-meta summoner

We see Bortus making an appareance in Splinterlands' bronze Top Battles every now and then, and it makes a lot of sense: magic is meta. Obsidian, Alric and Valnamor are too often high up in the ranks, because magic is strong! Blue cards are very strong in general, but they are also much cheaper if they're not top-tier. Actually, they could be top tier, they're also cheap to rent if they're not magic-damage oriented.

Of course, it helps a lot that rewards include the incredibly strong Djinn Oshanus, which so happens to combo really well with Bortus. Who's going to deal damage against a void tank while debuffed? Only physical damage monsters, of course, but they should be damn fast too, since Djinn Oshanus has 5 energy which pushes a lot of attack misses.

As long as you also use physical protection and sustain, using the likes of Crustacean King or Merdaali Guardian along Venari Wavesmith, you'll tank everything! While not quite a contender for Top Battles, getting massive win streaks when your capture rate is maxed is cheap and easy.
