Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: 🔥 Survival Mode Launch & Leaderboard Updates 🔥

The battlefield is evolving! The Splinterlands team is thrilled to introduce Survival Mode, a brand-new ranked play format that will challenge players in exciting new ways. Alongside this game-changing mode, they're also rolling out League-Based Leaderboard updates, ensuring even more competition and rewards for all players.

🔥 Enter Survival Mode – The Ultimate Test of Strategy & Endurance
Survival Mode is a fresh take on ranked battles, introducing a unique endurance-based gameplay mechanic where cards that die in battle enter a cooldown period before they can be used again. Unlike Modern and Wild formats, where individual team selection is key, Survival Mode focuses on collection management and long-term strategy.
Key Features of Survival Mode
No Energy Requirement – Battle as much as you want, no energy restrictions! Your cards themselves become the limiting factor.
Card Cooldowns – When a card is defeated, it cannot be used in ANY battle format (Survival, Modern, Wild, Tournaments, or Guild Brawls) until its cooldown period expires.
All Cards Allowed (Except Gladiators) – Just like Wild format, any card in the game can be used, except Gladiator cards (unless paired with a Conscript Summoner or special Ruleset).
Revival Potions – Players can revive their cards instantly using special Revival Potions, which can be purchased with DEC, Credits, or Glint.
Collection Strategy Matters – Players must manage their decks wisely, considering not only which cards to bring into battle but also how many copies of each card they need.
Rewards & SPS Earnings
Survival Mode will have its own SPS reward pool, matching Modern and Wild formats. Players will earn SPS based on reward shares per battle.
The SPS pool is gradually filling and will equalize after the first season. Initially, rewards might only begin at 200 rating, but as the pool grows, SPS rewards will be available at lower ratings.
No Win Streak Bonuses – Unlike other ranked formats, Survival Mode will not provide extra rating for win streaks.
No Glint or League Advancement Chests – Glint earnings and advancement chests are only available in Modern & Wild. However, Glint rewards are planned for future Survival Mode seasons.
Card Cooldown Formula
When a card dies in battle, its cooldown time is based on its rarity, level, and foil type using the following formula:
Cooldown Time = base_cd - (base_cd - max_cd) * (bcx / max_bcx)
A 1 BCX card will use the base cooldown.
Gold Foil cards will have half the cooldown time of regular foil versions.
Example: A 300 BCX Regular Foil Common Card would have a cooldown of 180 hours (7.5 days) based on the formula.
Players can manually apply Revival Potions to immediately remove cooldowns or set them to be automatically applied when cards die in battle.

👑 League-Based Leaderboards – More Competition, More Rewards!
Due to overwhelming community demand, league-based leaderboards are making a comeback — with Glint rewards instead of DEC.
How Leaderboard Ranking Works
Players will compete within their league based on their rating at the start of each season.
Your league placement is locked in for the season, meaning if you start in Silver, you will compete for Silver leaderboard rewards, even if your rating rises to Gold.
Top 100 players in each league (above Wood) will receive Glint rewards
đź’° Glint Rewards Breakdown:

Each season, the top performers in each league will walk away with Glint rewards—along with bragging rights and eternal glory!

⚔️ Prepare Your Collection – Survival Mode Changes the Meta!
Survival Mode isn't just about picking the best teams—it’s about long-term resource management. A player with only one copy of each card might quickly run out of options, while someone with multiple copies of key cards can battle longer and earn more rewards.
This shift is expected to drive an increase in market sales and rentals, especially for cheap but powerful cards that players will want multiple copies of.

🚀 What’s Next? Future Updates & Expansions
Survival Mode and leaderboard updates could be just the beginning! Based on player feedback and performance data, the team is considering:
A “Modern” Survival Mode limited to the two most recent card sets.
Survival Mode events with special prize pools and limited card usage.
No-bot Survival Mode for players who prefer pure manual battles.
Revival Potion crafting using Land resources.
The team thinks that Survival Mode is an instesting step into a new era of gameplay, and they can’t wait to see the incredible strategies players develop. Are you ready to put your collection to the test? Dive into Survival Mode today and fight for survival, strategy, and supremacy!
