Splinterlands: Frankarsgard is a great tank
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Sand Worm.
Featured cards

Frankarsgard is a fire splinter that costs 7 mana. This splinter doesn't start with any abilities, but it does gain the enrage skill at level 5. I have this card at level 4, and I use it quite often whenever I use fire in Frontier.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Earthquake and Collateral Damage. This means that all non-flying monsters take 2 physical damage a turn, and all monsters gain the reckless ability. There is also 42 mana available, and I can use fire, water, or dragon splinter.
This battle is interesting because earthquake and collateral damage makes it a different type of match. In a way, I prefer to outlast my opponent, and both of these rulesets can damage your lineup. It depends on how you structure your lineup to survive.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barthalamas | 6 | Summoner | +1 Speed |
| Agniavan Salamander | 8 | 1st | |
| Scales of Justice | 5 | 2nd | Dodge |
| Frankarsgard | 7 | 3rd | |
| New Beluroc Aegis | 8 | 4th | Taunt |
| Sturdy Axe Warden | 8 | 5th | |
| Total Mana: | 42 |
My summoner is Barthalamas for its +1 speed. My tank is Agniavan Salamander. After is Scales of Justice followed by Frankarsgard. Then I have New Beluroc Aegis with taunt and Sturdy Axe Warden as my only monster able to attack.
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while trying to outlast my opponent. The taunt will help attract the damage, and Agniavan Salamander is up front because it is a ranged monster so it can't attack from the first spot. With that, I am able to last just a bit longer against my opponent.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is my win. My opponent has monsters that can attack from every single position. If you factor in the earthquake damage, my opponent will suffer quite a bit of damage.
Round 4

My opponent is left with two monsters while I have five. However, my opponent only has 1 monster capable of attacking. The earthquake damage will finish off both monsters so this is my win. Frankarsgard is quite healthy

I won that match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle this time went exactly as planned. I made my lineup to outlast my opponent because both rulesets are detrimental. I took advantage of the ruleset, and kept Frankarsgard as healthy as possible to increase my odds, and it worked.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

You made me see that at last level it gets rage! That's a good perk
Yea. I will be looking forward to maxing out this card when I get enough BCX.
Frankarsgard still being healthy late game says everything about how solid this setup was.
Yea. I did my best to keep him as healthy as possible with my lineup.
