Splinterlands: New Beluroc Aegis is great in Equal Opportunity
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used New Beluroc Aegis to attract the damage and allow the rest of my lineup to deal damage..
Featured cards

New Beluroc Aegis is a neutral splinter that costs 8 mana. This splinter starts with the taunt ability. Leveling up this card only increases the stats of this monster. I use this monster quite often in Frontier because taunt makes it a very good monster to use. It is able to soak up quite a bit of damage.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Four's a crowd and Equal Opportunity. This means only 4 monsters can be used and all monsters gain the opportunity ability. There is also 89 mana available, and I can use water, life, or death splinter.
This fight is interesting because of the card number limitations and the opportunity ability. In a way, you have to consider which cards works better as those low health monsters will go down fast. This match also has a high mana cap, so you have to maximize how well your team synergizes together.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marlai Singariel | 6 | Summoner | +1 magic |
| New Beluroc Aegis | 8 | 1st | Taunt |
| Great Bear Druid | 9 | 2nd | |
| Saltwater Mage | 8 | 3rd | Sneak |
| Mystic Scaleweaver | 9 | 4th | Slow |
| Total Mana: | 40 |
My summoner is Marlai Singariel for its +1 magic. My tank is New Beluroc Aegis with taunt. After that are three magic monsters, and the Great Bear Druid is a duo melee/magic damage. One of the monsters has sneak, and the other has slow.
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while my magic monsters wipe out my opponent. I had the taunt monster in the first position so Druid can do both magic and melee damage against the lowest health monster. Slow is used to give myself a speed advantage.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that I have the advantage in this match. My opponent doesn't have a taunt monster, and that will allow me to focus on damage on monsters. At the same time, I had a speed advantage due to my monser with slow.
Round 3

My opponent is left with one monster while my entire lineup is still alive.

I won that match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle this time went exactly as planned. Magic monsters are very powerful when they can just cut right through the opponent's armor. The taunt monster attracted all the damage, and by slowing down my opponent, I wiped out my opponent's lineup due to the ruleset.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Saltwater mage and mystic Weaver are two cards I am looking forward to acquire.Kudos to you on your victory
They are both amazing cards in Frontier.
This one is always good to make enemies waste some rounds to take it down
Yea. It gives more of a chance to deal damage.

New Beluroc Aegis is such a powerhouse in these high-mana Frontier matches.
New Beluroc Aegis is a very nice frontline unit on the team
I tend to not use the frontline for it. Instead, it just depends on the ruleset. It can soak up quite a bit of damage.
The Taunt ability from New Beluroc Aegis is very useful in the match especially all the monsters have the opportunity ability from the ruleset present
Thanks for sharing! - @yonilkar
