My Splinterlands Journey.....A Bump In The Road?

We're winding down the latest season on Splinterlands and I have to be honest....

This was a rough one!

I guess it serves me right for hustling last season to make it to Champions League for the first time ever. Because now, it seems like a gauntlet to not only get some wins under my belt, but wow...

This time last season, I was around 50 chests for rewards...Right now if I hit 30 I'll be happy lol

Guess that's the game though, the better you do, the harder it becomes.

So this season, I made a few changes to see if it would help my latest campaign...

My First Card Rental!

I decided to rent my first card and it's because.....Ruler of the Seas kicks my butt EVERY time I seem to play it!

I got a max level card for a few days and enjoyed playing with it a lot.

Didn't really see a huge boost in wins though, as you can see from above lol However it made me think, this will be a card I'll target to purchase down the road.

Of course, it's not the cheapest thing out there...So maybe I'll just rent it out a few more times lol

Flippin' Summoners

I had some Summoners that I rarely used and decided it might be time to level up the ones I did...

To get Lorna Shine to level 6 took quite a bit. While she's not the most expensive Life Summoner, she still required a bit of capital to get her levelled up. I would love to get her maxed, but that may take some time. So I'm happy to get her to at least Level 6 right now!

I also took a bit of funds from the Summoner flip and levelled Grandmaster Rathe up to 3.

Only having one BCX of him, it required a purchase of 5 more copies. But I love this Splinter, so thought it would be a good idea to work on levelling him up!

Random Card Investments

There were a few cards too, that interested me over the past few months, and decided it was time to dip in and get them into my line ups...

I play the WILD format mostly, and thought it would be a ton of fun to create a 'Yodin' team in the Water splinter.

And to do that, I needed the BLAST ability!

Obviously, Ruler of the Seas will be something I'll dive into down the road, but I use Poseidon a lot in the rear attack.

And Electric Eels fit perfectly with REACH.

This card is great because it can always fit in a lower mana game but it's SO affordable! I saw @bulldog1205 mention that he purchased it last week, so I took a dive in and got one to Level 7. Loving this card!

Have you ever noticed something about the Fire Splinter?

Yeah, I just figured this out over the past few days....

There is ONE, count them, ONE Monster with the Tank Heal ability!

And that's Battle Queen. Of course, I needed to get her to Level 5 in order to get the heal, but so far...It's been worth it. She's a lower mana card too, that sneaks into a lot of line ups. The health is super low though, and the max I can get with her will be 3.

Still...She's very useful in this Splinter.

So overall.....

This season has sucked so far LOL

I mean, it doesn't help when you seem to be getting these rule sets every now and again... LOL

But it's given me the opportunity to look at my deck and see how I can improve it.

And while this season may be a write off, because there is no way I'm getting back to 60 reward chests lol I'm still pumped up and excited to play the game each and every day!

I am betting big on splinterlands. I have moved some of my DCA money into the game and away from btc and eth. I hope that in the end I can build a rental army that will feed my family!!

The way this season went lol I might take a few weeks off and see how much I can earn from renting my cards out. What a powerful thought that is huh....Feeding our families from the rental income!!

Renting is sooooo much easier now that I have a bot managing it too. @splinterrents has been awesome to me. 5% fee and they take care of the rest.

There’s definitely a good benefit for someone managing your rentals that’s for sure lol. I’ve locked most of my good cards in my account so I won’t be able to transfer them for a while but I might give it a try and see what my ROI is. I’ve been keeping up with them every few days on my own and it’s manageable.

It is not an apple-to-apple comparison... the reward chests from the Champion league are more valuable than the ones from the Diamond.

I have always look for Tank Heal in Fire and only to find out Beetle Queen is the only one, I also do think it is cheap considering its ability, I would have broke the bank to buy though the summoner upgrade to level 5 have been a limitation. I hope to buy it some day or we get Tank Heal Fire card from up coming new cards.

This season have been my toughest, it has just been extremely tough to win battles which affects chest accumulation.

I was surprised that Queen wasn't more expensive, seeing it's the only tank heal in Fire. She's not maxed but I'll get there!

They did change the calculation for the season rewards chests, because if you use 6 cards in your lineup that fit with the daily focus it gives a 60% bonus to rewards points.

I do however think they were a bit too conservative as you can’t really use 6 stun/piercing attack monsters in one lineup.

I hope they lower the points needed a little bit, so that we get more chests with the same amount of wins.

It is a fantastic game in which there is more and more competition. I'm looking forward to seeing the new soccer game they're preparing, I hope it's great.

The new format is tough and I am only at 33 chests this season so far. It's a bit more than you but I have been losing more fights than I would like. Upgrading cards will help you but I am not sure what are the best choices.

That sounds tough in the Champions League. In Silver I have been doing ok so far with good daily chests and 52 or so EOS chests so far. Yodin sent me here!

Even in lower leagues, I observe it's also not easy to grow the number of chests this season. Thanks for the info that Beetle Queen will have a tank heal ability at level 5. I thought healing ability is only for water, earth, and life splinters.

Yeah I had to do some research via Splintercards, and found it. And still relatively cheap for the tank heal being the only one in the splinter.

In that case, Beetle Queen will be part of my fire card collection as I progress into higher leagues in the coming months.

This season is being hard for most, I would say. I'll probably get half the chests I got last season, competition is getting fiercer! Great job on those upgrades, they'll pay themselves out in the following months! 😉 !BEER

some nice cards. i am renting daria max level as mine is only level 4. yeah, in terms of profit, it is better to stop at diamond I and do not go to champion III, as there is much easier to make a lot of chests, i found out, at least for myself. if you do not have full maxed sets, champion is not for you. and by that i mean me.

Last season was the longest I've seen in quite a while. So don't compare them, as this one was relatively short.

I'd love to have a maxed Lorna too. That's a summoner that's almost unbeatable in certain low mana battles.

Last Season not only was much longer but it had everyone at the same levels for Modern and Wild so when they reset this Season, more people were focused on their league which has made it tough for sure. When I am getting on a losing streak in Wild, I switch over to Modern for a day to avoid losing too much rank.

I love my ruler of the seas! Such a great card, I was lucky enough to make the investment early and got it up to level 3. Great to have the -1 magic debuff!

I too enjoy those other cards, my Lorna is only level 5 but maybe will get her to 6 one day, though I have lots of other things to buy between now and then lol. I’m also lucky in that I got into things early enough to have some of those amazing early cards like beetle queen and got it to level 6 with a bunch left over to rent out. Wood nymph is another one, I’ve got a gold foil level 6, regular foil level 6, a gold foil level 4 and regular foil level 4 and enough in my deck to make another level 6 lol the good old days of cards in every reward pack!

I have been getting my ass kicked too this season, I stick with wild as well. I wasn’t a huge fan of modern but do enjoy the challenge every now and then.

It's such an awesome card, and building a blast team in water is pretty effective. I will end up investing to get one, or heck, renting them is pretty affordable too lol

Yeah, I've been too chicken to level up past Gold. I could maybe compete in the Modern format since I've maxed my Chaos deck, but my Untamed summoners are all Gold Level so...I would be a little limited in what I could play.

The other downside is right now I can rent out most of my maxed cards and just play with Gold level ones. I would have to go through a LOT of renting, unrenting, and waiting to rearrange my deck for playing Diamond or Champion. Either that or I'd have to rent a bunch of cards, which would also take a bunch of time to figure out.

I think I'll just stick with Gold for now. Like you, I keep adding to my deck as I run into cards that kick my ass. lol

I also have the feeling that it's much more difficult to climb the ranks this season and get some rewards. I believe it has to do with the fact that last season was 18 days and this season only 14...

I was just looking at buying a GF Beetle Queen today! At about 30k DEC it was a bit more expensive than I wanted to spend though. Cerberus was a pretty good tank healer back in the day for the low mana battles. Rough season for me too. I don't think I am going to top 50 or 60 chests this one. I think I was at 82 last season.

Looks like you left a little mana on the table with that little league rule set.
Glad your still having fun. I am making it to gold 3 league these days and my level 2 summoners against level 6 are usually sad battles.
