Introduction
Some battles are decided by raw power.
Others by speed.
And then there are those matches where timing, positioning, and a single status effect slowly suffocate the opponent until thereβs no escape.
This was one of those battles.
With a 25 mana cap, a Standard ruleset, and limited splinter options, everything pointed to a straightforward fight. But as the rounds unfolded, it became clear that this match would be decided not by brute force, but by patience and inevitability.
Match Conditions
- Mana Cap: 25
- Ruleset: Standard
- Available Splinters: πΏ Earth / π Water
- Format: Ranked (Modern)
Standard rulesets donβt forgive mistakes. Every decision matters.
My Lineup β Green Pressure with a Plan
Lineup Order:
- Frontline: Melee bruiser with Poison
- Second Position: Melee attacker with Opportunity
- Backline: Sneak attacker focused on early disruption
The idea was simple:
apply pressure early, remove key pieces fast, and let poison handle the rest.
Enemy Lineup β Water Defensive Setup
The opponent chose a more defensive composition:
- Dodge-based frontline
- Electrified mid unit to punish multiple hits
- Phase backliner to reduce magic effectiveness
A solid setup on paper β but one that struggles when poison enters the equation.
Battle Breakdown
Round 1 β Breaking the Structure
The opening exchange was aggressive on both sides, but the key moment came early:
- The Sneak unit targeted and eliminated the enemy backliner
- This immediately disrupted the defensive synergy
From that point on, the fight stopped being balanced.
Round 2 β Poison Changes Everything
My frontline went down, but not before doing its job:
- Poison was applied
- Opportunity triggered perfectly
- The Electrified unit was removed
The opponent was left with a single tank β already marked.
Round 3 β No Recovery Possible
Poison damage stacked.
Attacks started missing.
Pressure increased.
At this stage, the outcome was already decided.

Round 4 β The Quiet End
No dramatic final blow.
Just poison ticking one last time.
β οΈ Victory secured.
Why This Strategy Worked
- Inspire maximized melee efficiency
- Early backline removal broke enemy synergy
- Poison turned a lost frontline into a winning sacrifice
- Opportunity ensured perfect target selection
Not flashy. Just effective.
