Splinterlands: Flipping Assets & Summoner's Retention Value

It's the end of another splinterlands' season, and one thing that's always certain is that the game gets harder irrespective of whether it's the bear market or the bull market. This is a good thing because it shows that people are not panic selling their assets and leaving, rather they're even buying more assets to flip more rewards and stay competitive in the process.

The reward system doesn't seem to be changing too much, my end of the Season's rewards weren't great, they were regular and this is the reason why I'll eventually migrate to gold 3 forever, because even if I'll earn smaller numbers of chests at least, my chances of landing a Chaos legion pack would have increased.

Selling < Flipping Assets/Taking Profit

However, this aside, it makes no sense to be selling anything at the moment, unless you're selling one asset to buy another asset because one eventually loses when they sell, but they wouldn't just be the one losing alone. At the moment splinterlands is trying to go through a lot of changes to actually salvage the game from succumbing to the market's whims and caprices.

Some of those changes are scheduled to happen this year in other to create value around some in-game assets. Two of the most important assets like "DEC* and SPS. I think some in-game changes like the introduction of soul-bound cards are going to be introduced, but so far people are more interested in the economic aspect of the game, and this isn't surprising.

A Busy Year For Splinterlands INC

However, it's one thing to pass a proposal and it's another thing for the community to vote and it's also another thing for these changes to at least solve 70% of the main reason why they were created and this is why I'll be looking for to seeing the DEC-B proposal and I'm sure it'll turn out for the better. Back to me, it's been a long time since I made any splinterlands post and through this period, a lot has changed.

For example, I have finally opened all the 117 packs that I bought in 2021, I have gotten about 5 extra packs from gaming rewards and I have opened everything. It's been mixed feelings so far. We all know that pack opening experiences can come with excitement and expectations and this is why they were amazing.

DEC & SPS Dilemma

Funny enough, in my last five pack opening, I got two standard legendary cards, IZA THE FANGED and BAAKJIRA, but because I had these two already, I decided to sell the BAAKJIRA because of one reason which I'll talk about later.

However, I had to wait till the last 15 packs to actually get any GFL and this was LYRA THE DARK, it was probably my biggest pack opening experience and one other thing that stood out for me was getting the legendary GFL summoner POSIBILLIUS THE WISE, as an airdrop for buying and holding 117 CL packs. It was my all-round biggest experience and this was because it was a summoner, it was worth around $136 when I first got the drop (I dare not check the price, it brings some FUD feelings)

The Pack-Opening Experience

I felt like I was being rewarded for missing out on so many airdrops and never getting any GFL in the process, but the feeling was exciting and this is probably one I'll relish forever. I'll be hoping to earn more packs through rewards and hoping to get lucky. This doesn't mean I didn't experience any disappointments in the pack opening process.

I did experience a lot of disappointments and, I think it's that Ping-pong feeling of either getting something amazing or getting something disappointing. Anyway, I talked about selling my BAAKJIRA and the main reason why I did that was to buy a few units of THADDIUS BROOD, the death summoner, and finally, get this summoner to level 3.

Upgrading Summoners

It was an exciting feeling because now I can play a lot of my level 4 cards in the death element. I took the opportunity to use the remaining DEC to upgrade some of my death cards to level 3 and 4 since the summoner can now back it up. My last summoner upgrade was earth element, and this time, it's death, my next level 3 upgrade will be fire, then the last one would be life element, but I'm doing the upgrades based on demand, utility, and cost.

It's a very expensive process to upgrade summoners and this is because they're always in demand hence they maintain a lot of value price-wise, the USD value might decline a little, but this is almost unnoticeable and this is why they're the best when it comes to value retention of assets on splinterlands.

Value & Expense: The Sacrifice

This is one of my important upgrades and I'm hoping to start utilizing this to play better and earn more, apart from that, it's also part of the investment process. It was great to get that BAAKJIRA, if not, the final upgrade wouldn't have happened. At the end of the day, we keep grinding. building on splinterlands is never easy, I've been trying to build a competitive deck and so far, I can compete up to gold 3 modern format, this isn't bad.

However because I've opened up my packs, the building process would be slowed down a bit until I can get to cash to keep upgrading here and there. I've been selling off my vouchers and while they're not really that valuable, I'm still happy to be able to sell them to buy hive in return, over time, the stack of hive might not be much, but I can power them up and earn better curation rewards.

Splinterlands: Going Forward?

I think it's about flipping and knowing what best to do with one's assets, splinterlands is about creativity, both in the in-game aspect as well as the economic side of things. I have designed a few Images of what my last three-pack opening process was like, and getting two standard legendary cards at the end was exciting.

Also, I did share a picture collage of my "not so good" end of the season rewards. I'm also thinking of buying some extra 5 to ten packs or not before the whole CL packs would be burned let's see how it goes. I think the market is finally ripe for blooming, although I don't know when this would be, I'll keep building before that time.

Summoners are very important and I am glad the airdrops are going well for it. It's been quite horrible for me but if you want to play fights in the game, then the summoner is the most important followed by your card levels. If you don't have a high enough summoner, you can't play the leveled up card either way.

You're right about the summoners, so I don't regret upgrading them even if they come with very low collection Power in the process. They're valuable on all angles.

Yeah, my deck is getting stronger, but the building process has been very slow though. I hope I can keep growing it before the next bull run.

Are we not yet experiencing the bull run? 😅

I honestly thought we are starting on the bull since last week.

Hope you get your desired cards collection soon enough.

It's not the bull run yet, but we're experiencing an upward push in price. The prices of other crypto will give you a better idea.

👍 You have a strong and complete card collection. But also consider having a gladius card. It will speed you up and be able to survive in the gold league. Entering into a guild can help your development more quickly achieved. !PIZZA
