Splinterlands - Battling with Opportunity Ability (Weekly Post)

When opportunity ability came out I was hooked. Untamed had one card with that ability for every splinter and I went and bought each one at 1 bcx to play with. For life splinter the Cave Slugs was good enough that I bought a gold foil version at level 3. I never looked back as it was one of the better investments I made in Untamed cards.

However down the road I favored using opportunity with Fire splinter than any other splinter. There I could use summoner Inferno and Serpentine Spy too boost its melee attack. Although this week's Splinterland's battle post is focusing on Cave Slug due to my limited level 3 Slugs I have be unable to win a battle with it. Instead I have won with Serpentine Spy. Therefore in this post I discuss a battle using Opportunity ability with my Serpentine Spy.

Battle Using Serpentine Spy Similar to Cave Slugs

I got a gold foil Serpentine Spy and not afraid to use it :p In the battle to follow the mana was limited to 18 and the rule set was rise of common only. I automatically went with fire splinter due to the splinter having multiple cards with low mana.

With that my formation I went with Furious Chicken, Living Lava, followed by Magna Troll and ending with Serpentine Spy. My chicken was basically use to hold out one attack blow while my Lava was the real tanker.

On my opponent's end they decided to go with death splinter and lead of with infamous Haunted Spirit followed with Furious Chicken, Haunted Spider, Twisted Jester, Undead Priest, and ending with Ooze. It is not worthy that the chicken in similar but differnt position used mainly as a filler.

Round 1

Off the bat my Chicken is gone but by end of round one my opponent's Ooze was also removed. Besides those monsters both formations have the remainder of the monsters intact.

Round 2

Serpentine Spy takes out the Chicken as it now has made two kills while the Haunted Spider poisoned my Lava. Besides that the formations remained pretty much intact.

Round 3

The third round had a little more action where both tankers were knocked out. My opponent's Haunted Spirit got knocked out first and then my Living Lava was removed. All in all the remainder of the formations still attacking but much less weaker without its respective tank monsters.

Round 4 thru 6

The turning point really was when Undead Priest was knocked out. Without it my opponent's formation was limited with only one monster, specifically the Haunted Spider as the only monster able to attack. On the other hand my Troll and Spy were able to hit in every round to extend damage against my opponent.

Basically my Troll and Spy finished the remaining monsters on my opponent's end and I went with the win in six rounds.

Serpentine Spy Better than Cave Slugs?

Although I did not show a battle using Cave Slugs I will say that having used Serpentine Spy which is very comparative to the Slugs I would prefer to stick with Spy between the two. Main reason in fire splinter more low mana monsters that can complement Spy and that Spy is under a splinter with a summoner that boosts melee attack, which in turn is making Spy stronger.

The way I see it Spy can attack and knock out monsters quickly while is complementary with other low mana fire monsters. Major drawbacks to Spy is the low mana and lack of defense compare to that of Slugs. Spy makes of with the drawbacks with some what faster speed than Slugs in attacking. Sometimes speed helps out a lot and in my case of the battle described in this post my Spy was quick enough to knock out my opponent's monsters one by one due to its speed in attack. With the speed Spy attacks first and since some of my opponent's monsters are low in health it did not take long for my Spy to create knock outs.
