Splinterlands - Limiting Chaos Legion Packs

avatar

The latest proposal in Splinterlands is related to the current supply of Chaos packs. The whole jest of it is if the proposal passes in the near future Chaos packs that are not sold via in game market they will be burned.

Today's post is to look how the proposal would effect the Chaos cards that is currently in circulation and its future.

Chaos Total

With over 2/3 of the entire ever to be printed Chaos packs already sold one would be wondering why not wait for the free market to continue its sales and eventually sell out. The speed of selling
has slowed over the months and Splinterlands developers are planning to introduce a new series of cards coming summer 2023.

A graph chart above shows the sale of Chaos packs since inception and we can see that the most recent months packs have not sold as quickly as the first few months of the packs inception.

It makes perfect sense to lower the total Chaos packs so that we hit the limit of Chaos sales in game, but will this benefit players in the short term and long term?

Chaos Cards In Circulation

Over on Splintercards we can see the current amount of cards printed in circulation and how many of each Chaos card is used in game. First thing I noticed is that the latest air drop Conqueror Jacek has the lowest cards in circulation for legendary rarity.

Then I ponder since there are four more air drops how will this pan out when the remaining packs begin to shrink.

If in fact there will be less than 15 million packs then the remaining packs that can potentially pull the last few air drop cards will be less. This would mean there will be some legendary cards that will be very limited relative to most of the other Chaos cards.

A glance over the common Chaos cards appears that 3/4 of the printed cards are either stacked or burn. Example one of the most popular common card: Goblin Psychic where it has 211k of cards in circulation but originally 850k cards pulled.

It is easy to see that as time rolls forward and potentially less card packs to be for sale it is highly likely we will see increase in value of the current printed cards. A quick summation there is $14.1 million in regular cards and $5.1 million in gold cards. We will have to see if this net worth of Chaos cards, around $19.2 million will rise in the future as we draw close to the day where Chaos packs stop selling.

Set Values

A Chaos set max level regular cards currently is worth nearly $6k. We could potentially see the sets rise dramatically once card packs are no longer selling in the game's market.

This seems like a great investment to try to accumulate Chaos before its all gone. What a move by the Splinterland's developers in pushing demand by planning on reducing the supply. Will it work? Evidence we see for now is showing its has a lot of potentially many current Chaos card holders very rich.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!

I think it's better this way. The reason is that, I think that the packs are not really selling and maybe people need the sense of urgency to consider buying them back again.

I don't know if I like it but I do think the card set cycle is around a year or so right? In a way, I think the team is worried about the next set of cards but I don't think it's a good idea to burn them. It just seems like the Splinterlands team really overestimated how many packs needed to be released.

I think so too where new series every year. Next year due for a new one. In any case there will still be demand for cards but just at what prices? !WINE !LUV

A Chaos set max level regular cards currently is worth nearly $6k. We could potentially see the sets rise dramatically once card packs are no longer selling in the game's market.

I think it will start happening even a little earlier. Especially valuable will be summoners and strong cards. I'll try my best to buy in advance.

The only thing I'm worried about is whether the creators are trying to kill the old card releases with the new sets. Objectively, Riftwatchers and CL are pretty good. What's coming next?

It’s certainly looks like prices are rising fast. I am now regretting now getting all the chaos summoners before this recent pump. !PIZZA !LOL
