A Reward epic rarity summoner from the Dragon Splinter at maxed level (level 6):

  • Estimated cost: $33.47
  • Mana cost: 4
  • Summoner ability: +1 melee damage

This week's challenge focuses on the dragon summoner, and my favourite summoner is Daria Dragonscale. Unsurprisingly, I have also maxed it and therefore allows me to utilise a higher level monster cards that my other level 5 summoners cannot operate at higher levels. The beauty of utilising dragon summoners is that it allows you to use monster cards from the dragon splinter and enable you to utilise any monster cards from all the other splinters. Additionally, Daria Dragonscale provides all monsters +1 melee damage, so it's a great card to use especially in those melee-focused rulesets.

Battle Details

  • Mana cap: 28
  • Ruleset(s): Fog of War

Lineup Details

  • Dragon Summoner: Daria Dragonscale
  • Lord Arianthus: no introduction needed, but king of passive tanks
  • Creeping Ooze: support melee with speed decrease hex to enemy monsters
  • Brownie: support melee with speed increase buff to friendly monsters
  • Dragon Jumper: primary melee damage
  • Spirit of the Forest: primary range damage with armor increase buff to friendly monsters and healing ability applied to Lord Arianthus
  • Screeching Vulture: support melee damage

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Most definitely! I was quite chuffed to win this battle against an opponent with a legendary summoner. I think what attributed to me overpowering my opponent is the number of buffs and hexes applied by my lineup of monsters:

  • Dual speed buff and hexes meant that my monsters had +2 speed
  • Increase melee damage
  • Armour buff which essentially increases the survivability of my monsters

I would also say that doubling up on opportunity ability (Dragon Jumper and Screeching Vulture) worked out very well. Dragon Jumper and Screeching Vulture were doing combined damage of 10 (insanity) per round!

Do you like using Dragon Summoners? Why or why not?

I love utilising dragon summoners as they provide so many options and flexibility. My best investment was maxing Daria Dragonscale as its starting to increase in price. Generally, the dragon summoners are quite sought after and therefore are more expensive than splinter specific summoners. Nonetheless, having a dragon summoner is well worth the investment.

Thanks for sharing! - @ashikstd

Whoa... so many dragon summoners out there and some are too costy, it seems.
Daria Dragonscale is a fantastic choice.

Keep on battling.
