This week's battle challenge focuses on the Naga Fire Wizard:

The Flame Naga of the Burning Lands are tough. Not only are they extremely intelligent and skilled in every known weapon, but they have recently been taught magic by order of the Flaming Robe. In the last Mount Mox tournament season, the Flame Wizards really cleaned up.

A Reward rare rarity monster from the Fire Splinter at level 3:

  • Estimated cost: $0.90
  • Mana cost: 8
  • Magic attack: 2
  • Speed: 2
  • Health: 6
  • Armor: 1
  • Shield: Reduced damage from Melee and Ranged attacks.

The Naga Fire Wizard is an interesting card. It has all the makings of being a support tank - shield and thorns ability, decent health, armor but instead of melee damage; it does magic damage. A high mana cost card can sit in the backline and handle attacks from those melee damage opportunities and sneak-ability melee monsters by doing thorn damage back to the enemy monsters. I have the Naga Fire Wizard at level 5 on my main account and level 3 on my alt account. For the battle showcase, I will showcase it on my alt account.

This was such a beautiful and tightly fought battle. Both Naga Fire Wizards excelled in this battle. Albeit my opponent's level 1 Naga Fire Wizard was responsible for taking out 2 of my monsters. This battle was a perfect showcase of how tanky the Naga Fire Wizard is and how much of a beating it can take. What proved to be the clincher for my opponent was that he had a higher level Cyclops that did that 1 extra damage, which proved vital in the end.

Do you like the Naga Fire Wizard? Why or why not?

There is a lot to like about the Naga Fire Wizard: it's tanky, has all the abilities of a tank (Lord Arianthus and Onyx Sentinel have the same abilities), and relatively cheap. The downsides to the Naga Fire Wizard are that it doesn't pack enough of a punch and its high mana cost card for a magic monster in the backline. I still think it's a useful card to have for those high mana cap Fire Splinter, and especially it's quite a unique card as it's the only magic card in splinterlands with tank abilities (shield & thorns).
