Bulk Rentals with Peakmonsters

This title is as boring as it sounds. So I will try to keep this short and bitter.

In my previous post I said I have no interest in renting towards Gold 1, but as usual something changes and all of a sudden I am the dick in the story.

I was watching @luke-wtp and the whole "Rentals are Expensive" topic came up. Just yesterday I did set about 18000 CP up for rent and that returns about 90+ DEC a day, so about 19% ROI at the lowest price on the market at the time of posting.

Revenue from rentals (filterable):
91.645 DEC/day out of 96.997 DEC/day listed // 18.46% yearly ROA
Rentals (filterable): 179.697 DEC/day

Now I don't know what is a good formula for supposed returns on rental assets but a lot of what makes them expensive or affordable is how much we get in return for playing.

If rentals were so affordable that you could jump an entire league bracket and they would pay themselves, I would argue that is a sign bottom market... I will call it what I want, bottom market it is.

However if say you can rent 50% of the required power for the league bracket and possibly cancel that out with earnings and a little, maybe that is a balanced market?

If you were to jump an entire pay league bracket above your asset holdings and not have to put anything in then surely that is a problem?

Bulk Renting

Since it was on my mind I had a look at rentals and specifically what would be the ideal CP (Card Power) to DEC purchasing ratio. More exactly I only cared to see what would be the minimum I needed to jump a league bracket and what would it cost me.

So I would need 50,000 CP at the best price. In the stream they mentioned 500 CP per DEC is about what everyone is used to, possibly based on a DEC value of over 0.0035 which we have had now for the longest time. This will get worse as DEC may be heads towards the 0.001 bullshit peg.

Comparatively, 50,000 CP can be obtained by owning 10,000 Gargoya Lions at $0.02 each which is $200. Then you would be broke and stuck in Silver 2 but only need to rent 20,000 more CP which give or take you can get from me it seems at 100 DEC a day (28 cents ish).

Anyway..

I was looking at ROI and CP/DEC values when I spotted a bulk CP button on Peakmonsters. So figured that is just simpler, what CP/DEC ratio would get me 50,000 CP and for what price.

As you can see in the image the final value is 100CP/DEC if I accepted just about any type of card.

The limit on card CP I left at 5 because the lowest single card is worth that much. When I started at 600CP/DEC I only could fill about 5000, and slowly I reduced it.

I got a good chunk at 36,000CP for 200CP/DEC but could not get to the 50K I needed.

The final one is 100CP per DEC.

It is only day one so I will keep track on that but how much does it cost?

The final cost so far is rounded up to 200DEC for 51K CP so about $0.50 cents a day, to jump an entire league bracket.

On average this only earns me 10ish cents more in chest rewards and a highball average of 10cents more per day on matches won.

Assuming I keep all my winnings.

Keep it All

So I think unless you are gunning for the absolutely broken and pointless leaderboard there is no reason built into the game to be playing above your league with the exception of Silver 3 and lower.

If you play below Silver 3 and debatably in Silver 3 then existential dread is a bigger issue.

There are no benefits to being a single league bracket above where you currently are -See exception above unless you are jumping an entire league - Gold --> Diamond.

If you are jumping an entire league then unless you are able to reach the top 3 of the next leaderboard you better know you will be paying.

Now obviously these are plain facts. What will change and how will they make it so that time spent playing and playing well could ideally be as much worth as dumping a money truck into the game?

No fucking clue, possibly a per level gained reward system like Unchained Gods? We will see.

Splinterlands has no difficulty curve and it is all down to what you own, if you have the most you will get the most, fair enough skill and the "grind" are secondary within the game itself.

A lot of how we gain in Splinterlands actually happens outside of it, communities, contests, content.

Goodluck.

Agreed, after silver 3 there is little reason to rent beyond that. Good write up!

Hopefully, more gameplay mechanics will make not levelling up to some "max-earning" less of an issue but I guess it is a difficult balance game/earning and pleasing everyone.
