My BATTLE MAGE SECRET Weekly Challenge! Healed Out

Hello there, this is my entry to the new "Battle Mage Secret Weekly Challenge!". If you want to participate or know more about the challenge, click here. This week we have to formulate a strategy with the Healed Out ruleset.

RULESET: Healed Out

With the Healed Out ruleset, all the healing abilities are removed from the monsters including the summoners.

The 'Healed Out' ruleset is very easy to understand as all the healing abilities are removed from the units. These include 'Heal', 'Tank heal' and 'Triage'. This applies to the summoner's abilities as well.

So, in this ruleset, I usually stay away from units which had these abilities as they would not be worth the same without these healing abilities.

Let's see how this ruleset affects my lineup and how I strategies for the following battle. But first, let's focus on my lineup.

My Lineup

This is my lineup for the battle

Position
Summoner/Monsters
Summoner
Owster Rotwell
Position 1
Legionnaire Alwar
Position 2
Riftwing
Position 3
Cabalist
Position 4
Life Sapper
Position 5
Zyriel
Position 6
Queen of Crowns

This was a 44-mana cap battle and it had only 1 ruleset. Yes, you guessed it, 'Healed Out'.

All but water and earth elements were active during this battle.

Only the 'Water' and 'Dragon' elements were active during this battle. I went with the Water element and used the Owster Rotwell as my summoner which granted all my units the 'Magic Reflect' ability.

I used the Legionnaire Alwar as my tank. It comes with strong attacking strength, dealing with 3 melee attack damage. But the best part about this unit is its defensive ability. Having 8 armor and 6 health point it comes with 'Void Armor' and 'Giant Killer' abilities as well. A nice tank to hold the front line of my lineup.

In the next position, I placed the Riftwing which is a useful unit. Although it doesn't have any attack the 'Scavenger' ability makes it live much longer. Also, the 'Flying' and 'Backfire' abilities make it more powerful. All this for just 4 mana is a nice deal.

The next one on the lineup was Cabalist, who is a powerful mage dealing 3 magic attacks with decent speed. The only drawback of using this unit is its relatively low health point. But the 'Amplify' ability is just perfect along with this summoner and both complement each other beautifully.

Life Sapper came next in my lineup. Costing only 3 mana and coming with one of the best abilities in the game, the 'life leech' ability is a good bargain. So, the low health can increase if we properly hide it between the units.

One of the most powerful attackers in my lineup was Zyriel, who deals with 4 ranged attacks and comes with the 'Life leech' ability as well. This is the only duel element unit in the game and is worth the 7 mana cost.

Last but not least was Queen of Crows which costs a whooping 9 mana but it justifies its costs easily with its 2 ranged attack damage and a huge amount of health (13 hp). It comes with a super useful 'headwinds' ability as well which decreases the ranged attack of all enemy monsters.

Now that my lineup was set let's talk about my strategy for this game.

My Strategy

Since this was a 44 mana cap battle, I had the luxury to use heavy attackers and the ruleset was not restrictive as well. I was expecting a heavy magic attack and prepared against it.

I used the Owster Rotwell which gave all my units the 'Magic reflect' ability.

Using a strong tank at the front of the lineup was a crucial part of my strategy. I wanted to make the front line as solid as I could. So, I used two strong units at the front of the lineup.

I hid my weaker units at the center of the lineup but made sure to put a strong unit at the back which will protect the back line as well. So, I used the Queen of Crows at the end of my lineup.

I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube. Battle Link

My opponent also expected that I am going to use the Magic attacks so they went with the Thaddius Brook which decreases the magic attack of all my units.

To my surprise, they used Melee attacks the most which was a little weird as some of the placement of those units were questionable. My magic reflect ability was very powerful and in round 1 it even destroyed their Magi Necrosi.

Round 2 was way worse for my opponent as they lost their strong tank, Harklaw. While I still had all the units intact and working with great synergy as one unit.

Round 3 was not good for them either. Only at the end of the round, I lost my tank which was some success for me as it survived for almost 3 rounds. What more can you expect?

After this, it was all downhill for them as my opponent saw the demise of one unit after the other in quick succession and in the end I won the battle easily. They were no match against my powerful attackers.

Conclusion

Healed Out doesn't affect the battle and lineup much other than how you choose your lineup at the start. I don't usually pick those units whose healing abilities were removed due to this ruleset as most often than not, the unit becomes worthless or at least loses most of its value which was provided by those healing abilities.

I resort to the fundamentals of the game at this ruleset. I use a strong tank and maybe a secondary tank as well to make the frontline as strong as possible and attack from the middle and end of the lineup as much as you like. Also, sometimes securing the end of your lineup is useful to counter those 'sneaky' monsters, especially in the higher mana cap battles.

Let me know if this ruleset bothers you or if you just ignore it and go back to the fundamentals and don't do anything special.

Your choice and the postition of cards as per the ruleset is really good. It will be very difficult for the opponent to destroy you.

Thanks bro, sad to hear you had to sell all your cards in SL. I do play Splinterlands (used to play Rising Star as well). However, I am not a good player there. Winning a tournament is a long ask. Thanks for the comments and good wishes.

Have a great weekend!
