Been a Splinterlands noob two months ago... no progress yet!

Approaching my second month on Splinterlands and still trying to find the perfect winning formula! I like the fire splinter more than others but still can't link winning battles.

The lack of time stopped me to complete the daily quest as often as I wanted and I also struggled with the weekly battle challenge! Been a noob two months ago... still no improvement!

I managed to complete two challenges, the Defender of Truth and the Grim Reaper. I got some a nice card at a chest and a lot of Dark Crystals in general. This badass Minotaur will definitely find a spot in my Fire Team.

I am following champions and veterans and their strategy is not so different than my one. The difference is made by the quality of the cards.

Many times I was thinking I created a perfectly balanced team and I will win the battle... until I was linked to opponents with golden and legendary cards and got my ass kicked so bad.

But at least last season's activity was rewarded with 7 chests and 2 new cards!

The Defender of Truth

This week battle challenge required the Defender of Truth, an Alpha/Beta epic rarity monster from the Life Splinter. I joined Splinterlands in December therefore I don't have it. Had a look on the market but I change my mind when I seen it costs $7.

The card looks cool and has great stats. You get 3 HP and 1 Armor, Speed 4 and 2 Magic Attack for only 4 Mana Points. As a bonus, the protect ability gives +2 armour to the party!

A similar card, which I constantly use, is the Truthspeaker! Has the protect ability, lesser stats and costs only 3 mana. I chose the Shieldbearer as a tank, and the Sand Worm as overpowered damage. Ooze an Chicken were the cheap selections to fill the team

The Shieldbearer was able to survive enough to give time to the Sand Worm to annihilate the opponent back line. Game over! See the whole battle here!

For only one extra mana, the Defender of Truth will be a great upgrade for the team, if will replace the Truthspeaker! Money wise, I am happy to use the Truthspearker and save $7.

The Grim Reaper

Another week, another challenge! On World of Warcraft I was a Forsaken Rogue and Undead was my favourite castle at Heroes 3. However, on Splinterlands, I don't play so much with the Death Splinter. This week battle challenge is ... the Grim Reaper

The Grim Reaper is a rare card that can be earned thorough rewards. Is a ranged monster from the Death Splinter, that has Affliction at level 1, and gains Oppress at level 5. If maximized to level 8, will gain Piercing.

I got a 99 mana battle with no special rules and I could chose my best line-up. Started with the Drake of Arnak, my Dragon Summoner. I used my most expensive cards, with the Bone Golem as a tank. The overpowered damage was given by the Sand Worm, Undead Rexx, Octopider and the Nightmare!

The Grim Reaper fitted the team well, as the Affliction will stop my opponents to heal. He had the Goblin Mech as a tank and lots of monsters behind. The battle was highly contested until the end, but my superior cards and tactics paid off.

The Grim Reaper was one of the winning factors, as his speed and damage made it hit before most of the opponents, reducing their numbers. The Nightmare, the Undead Rexx and the Grim Reaper survived the battle. See the whole battle: HERE!

Still fighting... still learning... and really proud of my Splinterlands title

Keep working at it. Even when you get to the higher leagues, there is always someone with a lot better deck than you. In my case it's more like 100 or more opponents have a better deck ;)
