#5 - What I Plan To Do With My Splintertalk and Hive Tokens

Hi everyone!

Time indeed flies and I have been with Hive and Splintertalk for 1 week! Yesterday I received my rewards from my first post! :)

For Hive, I received 1.113 HBD and 1.642 HP.

For Splintertalk, I received about 106 SPT.

It's not massive but I still want to thank everyone who has voted for my "debut" post!

My next step was to read up what these tokens are and how do I make use of them to earn curation rewards. I know many people have discussed on this topic but there is no right or wrong way to do it, so I just want to share my perspective on what I plan to do.

For Hive, my plan is:

  • Hive Token (HIVE): Stake all of them to exchange for Hive Power (HP), as the benefits include larger voting power and increased curation rewards as well as more resource credits to do transactions on Hive Blockchain. I feel this is important for me so that I can post more, comment more, and vote more!
  • Hive Power (HP): To keep them for myself for now, as I only have a small amount. This also allows me to vote when I am browsing posts within the community. When I have accumulated more HP, I will consider delegating up to 50% to @ocdb. This is because the OCD team made me feel most welcome when I first joined the Hive Community.
  • Hive Backed Dollars (HBD): To put them under Hive Savings for 10% APR. I considered converting them to Hive Power as well but I feel that having a portion of my tokens pegged to USD would give more stability for my wallet. 10% APR is pretty decent too.

For Splintertalk, my plan is:

  • SPT: Stake all of them to exchange for SPT Power, similar reasons as staking Hive Token.

  • SPT Power: To keep 50% for myself and to delegate 50% to @monster-curator. The thinking is similar to Hive Power, striking a balance between delegation and voting by myself. (@monster-curator, if you are seeing this post, thanks in advance!)

Overall, I feel that having a plan on what to do with my tokens keeps me organised. Feel free to share your thoughts too! Also, if you have recommendations to delegate SPT or HP, please let me know too!
