A Personal Reflection For Beginners

Hello there! The weekly Social Media Challenge posts are getting quite interesting these days! This week, it's Tips for Beginners!
Before I start, I should say that the Splinterlands game two years ago when I joined, versus now, has evolved significantly. So my experience and my struggles previously might not be applicable in this current ecosystem, but I will try to adapt the content to the current Splinterlands!
So let's see if I can value add to the content that is already out there! Here we go!
Introduction to Splinterlands: Break down the fundamental concepts of the game.
Put it simply, Splinterlands is a turn-based card game. Basically, you choose a Summoner and up to 6 cards to submit for any battle. A Summoner is like a team leader or general in battle, and his/her/its abilities apply to all 6 cards in your team or to the opposing team. Thereafter, your job is done and you will not be able to do anything except to watch how the battle plays out.
Getting Started: Provide tips for new players on how to navigate the platform and join battles.

If you using the browser mode, you can see the tabs on the top and to battle, you have to go to the battle tab and click that big battle button!
Strategy Tips for Beginners: Offer strategic advice for players who are just dipping their toes into Splinterlands.
First up, learn the basics. The type of damage. How the speed of each card works. Who goes first, and who goes next. Read the abilities of each card and read the battle ruleset. It might be overwhelming but once you start battling, it will soon become second nature.
Next, head to battle! You learn by practising. A lot. I mean, really a lot. By practising, I don't mean blindly submitting teams and skipping to rewards. Watch your battles. For battles that you did well, take note to re-use the same strategy. For battles that you lost, look at what the opponent fielded. If you were outwitted by a similar level of cards, adopt the strategy for your own use next time! For example, I realised I always lost to opposing lineups with Sea Monster. So I rented one, and subsequently bought one to add into my lineup permanently.
Once you mastered the basics and are climbing the leagues, you can try to figure which cards have synergies with which cards, and try to learn how to structure your lineups. The best teacher is your opponent, at least for me. Just learn from your opponents that beat you. Copy their lineups if you think they works, especially for low mana battles.
Community Welcome: Emphasize the importance of community in Splinterlands. Encourage new players to join forums, Discord channels, or other social media groups where they can connect with experienced players, ask questions, and share their progress.
Yes! The Splinterlands community/ecosystem is not just all about battling. There's so much more to battling! That's the forums, the Discord channels and if you join a guild, some of them have their separate Discord channels too! If you ask me, it's more fun when I play guild brawls with my friends week in week out versus just solo-ing battles for my daily chests.
Don't forget about Twitter! Most of the players have Twitter accounts and the majority of the community are very friendly and helpful, so don't be shy to say hi or ask for help!
Share Your Early Experience: Reflect on your own beginnings in Splinterlands. What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them? Share any memorable moments from your early battles.
Looking back to two years ago where I first started, it was very tough where I didn't know where to find resources. So I had to spend a lot of time to read up to understand, not only on how the game works, but even stuff like what staking is, how SPS and DEC works, etc.
For those who have an initial budget to spend to buy or rent cards, it is much easier because with a strong lineup of certain Legendary cards (e.g. Yodin Zaku) it's almost certain you will win. But for me, I didn't have a budget to work with, so I had to learn everything the hard way. This means I have to climb the ranks, earn the DEC/SPS, use them wisely to rent a few strong cards, and climb the ranks further, and repeat the cycle.
It's amazing how far I have come without any initial investment apart from the spellbook. I now have close to around 2,000 cards, a good amount of packs, SPS, etc and I am just chilling and enjoying the game as a leisure hobby.
So if I could do it, so can you!
That's all for my sharing this week. Hope you have enjoyed reading. If you have any comments, feel free to share them below!
