Another Black Foil Showcase

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
It's been over a month now since I first showcase the first Black Foil Ca reward card that I won through fortune draws and it was even during the very first draw that makes it more memorable even though it was just a common card which is the death unit Grim Bonewhip. Since then, I have used this card whenever I can and has helped me win a decent amount of battles, not to mention the 20% that this card gives when I won a match. But for the following draws, I fail to won another card, not until the 5th draw where I won my second Black Foil card and this time, it was the rare unit Grove Doomblade.
Finally, the goddess of RNG smiles on me cause with the first weekly fortune draw, I was able to win my first Black Foil card. Ever since the release of Conclave Arcana, I've been really hoping to get this card whenever I open packs, and it is also the reason why I keep on playing Frontier Mode. Unfortunately, luck was never on my side, and black foils have remained a chase card for me for a long time, until recently, when I won a Black Foil Grim Bonewhip. To be more precise, it was my alt account @agonyaccepted which I only play lucci gucci that really won the raffle.

And its not as if I had an easy win too. After all, there are a total of 296,158 entries that were entered during that draw, while I only 177 entries that gives me about 0.06% chance of winning.

Anyway, I want to showcase a few battles where I uses this Grove Doomblade in battle.

Grove Doomblade

Grove Doomblade is a 9-mana unit with the Fire attribute and are of the rare rarity. It is a melee unit with a maximum of 7 damage, a very low speed of 1, 3 armor, and 8 health which makes it quite a strong and beefy card, though its high mana cost and slow speed can often hold it back during battles.
When it comes to abilities, Grove Doomblade has the Sneak ability that allows it to attack the backline unit of the target, and with Fury, it can inflict twice the damage on units with Taunt ability. But that is not all because it also has the Stun ability which has 50% chance to stun the target and be unable to attack in a turn, as well as Ambush that will allow this card to attack even before the round 1 starts. So, basically, when this card is used appropriately, Grove Doomblade can be a menace of a card that can melt any of its targets health when it hits its attack.
For its Bloodline, it was a Elf, so while it is a Fire element unit, we can use the Earth Archon Kaylia Silverleaf to summon this card and give this the Execute ability and give it another chance to attack again if the opponent only has 2 or more health, not to mention, it can also be used by the dual element Archons with Fire element attribute such as Risqruel Drath and Lorkus.
Archon Synergies
In modern format, there are currently 11 Archons that can summon Grove Doomblade coming from Fire, Earth and Dragon elements. One of which shares the same bloodline with it, and will benefit from it's Bloodline Ability. But among those, I see it to work better among the following Archons.
- Kaylia Silverleaf

While Kaylia Silverleaf, is an Earth element Archon, it can still summon the card since they share the same bloodline, and through its Bloodline Dominion abilities, it also gain the Execute ability that will allow Grove Droomblade to attack again if the target has 2 or less health after a successful attack. Can be a good match for its Sneak and Ambush ability.
- Lorkus

By using Lorkus, Grove Doomblade will gain additional melee damage and if we gave it the Life Leech and Affliction ability during tactics, it will also additional health every time it successfully reduce the health of the opponent. Then, if we use it along the fire unit Magmaforged, its Pinpoint ability will make all of Grove Doomblade's Sneak attack to 100% hit the target to compensate for its slow speed.

- Risqruel Drath

Another Archon that can synergize with Grove Doomblade was Risqruel Drath, particularly, its ability to give True Strike and Impede ability on it during the tactic phase, so that it would not miss all of its attack, not to mention getting the Flying ability reduces its chance of being hit by both melee and range attack.

Battle Showcase
Battle 1:

Since Grove Doomblade was quite lacking in speed, I decided to other units that will increase the speed of my team and reduce the speed of of the opponent. With that, the likelihood that it will hit its target highly increases. Not even before the round 1 starts, it has unleashed its blades ferociously by attacking Swiftbeard Stout, which received a total of 16 damage as it was doubled by the effects of Fury. At the end of the battle Grove Doomblade has more than doubled its damage as it was leeching the opponent's health as it attacks.

Battle 2:

This time around, we had the Reverse Speed ruleset, so there is nothing to worry about Grove Doomblade not hitting the opponent. All I need to do is to provide it with some support, and for that bring Arachne Weaver to support it with Corrupted Healing and Grimbardun Smith for some Repair. And then, it can finally wreak havoc in the field by attacking my opponent's backline and potentially inflicting them with Stun.

Closing
And that was how I mostly use Grove Doomblade. Either use other units to increase its speed or capitalize on the Reverse speed ruleset. I also used it often during Aim True ruleset where it will always hit its target or include Magmaforged within my lineup.

Anyway, another Draw has just ended and unfortunately, I did not win any card, but now its a little bit better cause for every draw that a player don't win a card, they can get a copy of Luckiest Lonshot.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!
