Hello there! @saydie here, manually playing Splinterlands everyday!

In Splinterlands, we have divisions called leagues, which are made to separate players based on their rating. It is a competitive structure that pits players with similar skills or similar card collections to match with one another more efficiently. It is a structure that is also used in many competitive games such as MOBAs and Tactical Shooter games.

Within Splinterlands league system, there are 6 different leagues, with wood league as the lowest and Champion league as the highest. Except from Wood league, all the other leagues were divided into three tiers, that is again determined by their rating, so if you were in Champion, the highest tier you will have will be in Champion I, and yesterday, I was able to reach Champion I for a brief moment despite the huge disadvantage that I had.

Champion I Unlocked

It's not the first time that I had reached Champion I. There are multiple times that I was able to reach Champion 1 during the Chaos Legion Era and when Conclave Arcana was just released, but that was also the time when liquidity bots were not as optimized and often surrendering battles, so everyone's rating were also boosted. Now, it's much different because, not only that the bots were stronger, there were also new cards in the mix, with the release of Conclave Arcana rewards and Escalation, putting me in more disadvantageous position.

To give you more idea, I only have 5 max level Archons out of the 29 max level Archons and out of the 200+ cards in modern, I only had less than 30 that are playable in modern (Excluding Frontier and reward cards).

So looking at my cards, You can immediately see that I am at disadvantage when Earth is the only active element, as well as from certain modifiers such as Little league and Junior Varsity, so I usually have no choice but to surrender against those battles, but still, I was able to reached Champion I with the deck that I currently had.

One theory that I had is that players with Escalation are still in the trial and error stage with the new cards and are still experimenting with their new cards. But once they finally get to familiarize themselves with the card synergies, I do not think that I will be able to reach close to the same tier with the deck that I had.

League Advancement Rewards

image.png

Right now, I already fell back in Champion II rating, but one perks of unlocking a league tier is getting a league advancement chest and for Champion I, I received 15 Minor Chest, 15 Major Chest, and 6 Ultimate Chest that if I buy them in the Rewards shop, it will cost me 105,000 Glint. Since the only consistent way to acquire Glint right now is through winning battle and it is require for players to complete their reward cards, I will always take all the Chest that I can.

Chest TypeReceived ChestGlint CostTotal Cost
Minor155007,500
Major152,50037,500
Ultimate610,00060,000
105,000

What I get From Advancement Chest:

Minor

Noting fancy, an energy, a few potions and merits, 7 BCX of common cards and one rare Gravebrand Warlock.

Major

For Major Chest, I got a lot more Energy, but there were still some merits and potions. For cards, I got 10 commons and 4 rare cards.

Ultimate

And for the Ultimate Chest, I got another 11 common cards, one of which is an Extra card, which means that I can either transfer and trade the card immediately as well as two common scrolls, which I can use to unbind common reward cards or sold it to the market.

I did not get any Gold Foil, Epic or Legendary cards, but I still think that I got a decent pull in my advancement chest. Its still better that I get lots of cards regardless of their rarity than if I get lots of potions or merits.

Closing

And that was it with me advancing to the Champion I league for a brief moment. As I said, I already fell back to Champion II rating, and with more than 1 day remaining, it is still possible for me to made it back to Champion I before the season ends. But I much prefer if I would stay in around Champion III, so that when the season reset comes, I will be at Diamond I rating that will allow me to get Advancement chest for Champion III and above. And I had less encounters with opponents that have much stronger decks than me.

And no! This is not a pitch for me to apply for being a scholar. I still have other games in my backlog that I prefer to finish first than playing more Splinterlands, but if you're looking for one, we may be able to talk about it.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
