General Strategy

I chose two battles to show that the giant squid may be used in low, medium, or high Mana battles.

NOTE: The table that shows the lineup both battles somehow gets stuck at the bottom of this article page. If you do not see it immediately following this sentence, then you know where it is.. it is way below in the bottom, LOL!

There are many low league players like myself that may not have their Monster cards at high levels. Such is the case of my Giant Squid that is only at level 3 with no abilities unless provided by a buff from a Summoner or another Monster in the lineup, or an ability added on by virtue of the Ruleset.

What I love about the Giant Squid:
  • It can attack from EVERY position in the lineup EXCEPT the first place.
  • Just like the melee monster it will unleash attacks directly on the first monster in the enemy lineup (tank).
  • It has longevity on the battlefield.
  • How?
  • Even at low levels, its got a good Range attack strength of 2. That means that every time it hits an enemy monster, it can reduce that enemy monster's attack strength by 2. I have been using the Giant Squid a lot since I acquired the card at level one.
  • This Monster has high health of 4 at level two and a health of 5 upwards.
  • In addition to its high health level, the Giant Squid comes with a shield!

The Giant Squid at level 3 has the same attack strength as any of the preferred monster cards at the same level such as Naga Windmaster, Sniping Narwhal, and Pirate Captain in the Range category. It has the same or higher health than the three monsters mentioned, and it is the only one that has Armor.

In my experience using the Giant Squid, it always hits its target.

In high mana battles, the Giant Squid is best placed in the middle of the line-up protected from snipes and sneak attacks.

In low mana battles, the Giant Squids with its high health and armor can be very effective in the second position to support a high health tank, especially for the Ruleset Close Range which will allow the Giant Squid to attack from the first position.

There you have it Splinterlands Warriors! I hope you enjoyed the two battles above, and YES, the strategy worked... I won both battles!

In your comments below, please feel free to let me know if you have any other suggested card positioning or drop me a tip or two that could help me and others play the game better.

Hey cheers!

I've got to say I've got a few battles lined up all of which show how useless it's been for me!

I levelled mine up to 4 to get the blind buff, but I can't say I saw it make a blind bit of difference, oh hang on, that's given me a really cheesy title idea!

Cheers!
