Chaos Legion Release & Second Pack Sale
Hello Splinterfans! As the much anticipated Chaos Legion release is rapidly approaching, we have a few updates to the pack sale plans that we wanted to share, mostly based on player feedback.
Presale Success!
The Chaos legion sale is conducted in 3 parts.
Presale - 1M packs - Complete!
Phase 2 - 2M packs - starts December 8th
General Sale - 12M packs - Expected start date of January 17, 2022
Splinterlands completed a successful Chaos Legion presale! Splinterlands also introduced a voucher airdrop system. This was done in order to give each player the opportunity to earn vouchers, which could then be used to unlock the ability to purchase packs, if they were staking SPS. Vouchers were trading around the $15-$16 mark and during the time of the presale, players earned roughly $20M USD worth of airdropped SPS and vouchers as the result of staking!
The Presale was a huge success and we want to thank the entire community for the massive support during the Chaos Legion presale event!
Pack Sale - Phase 2
The second phase of the Chaos Legion pack sale - scheduled to start on December 8th, along with the release of the set - will run until Wednesday, January 12th, 2022.
Each pack purchased during this phase of the sale will still require one VOUCHER token, not including bonus packs, just as in the presale, and a total of 2M VOUCHER tokens will be awarded to players with SPS tokens staked in their account over 30 days starting on December 8th, 2021 and ending on January 6th, 2022. The amount of VOUCHER tokens each account receives will be based on the amount of SPS tokens they have staked as a percentage of the total SPS tokens staked in the system.
From January 7th, 2022 and onwards, VOUCHER tokens will continue to be awarded to SPS stakers at a rate of 20,000 per day and will be able to be used for various different rewards and promotions in the Splinterlands game going forward.
The first two (of 13 total) airdrop cards will be airdropped to pack purchasers and added to the Chaos Legion set (making them available to be found in packs) shortly after the second sale phase ends on January 12th, 2022. All packs purchased during the second phase of the sale (in addition to all packs purchased during the presale) will be eligible to receive BOTH of these airdrop cards, and the airdrop will still occur at the scheduled time even if not all of the 2M packs are sold in the second phase.
General Sale
The Chaos Legion general sale is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 17th, 2022 at 12:00 EST / 17:00 UTC. The remaining 12M Chaos Legion packs plus any unsold packs from the second phase of the sale will be available for sale at that time for $4.00 per pack and will no longer require VOUCHER tokens to purchase, however VOUCHER tokens will be required in order to receive bonus packs along with larger pack purchases in a single transaction.
Please note that even if not all 2M packs are purchased during the second phase of the sale, the first two airdrops will still occur before the general sale begins and therefore will only be available to players who purchased packs before then.

Pack Purchase Options
Starting with the second pack sale phase on December 8th and going forward, Chaos Legion packs will only be able to be purchased using Credits in the Splinterlands shop. Players who would like to use DEC or SPS tokens to purchase packs may still do so by simply using those tokens to purchase Credits in their accounts, but it will no longer be possible to purchase packs directly with DEC or SPS as it was during the presale.
With this change, there should no longer be any exchange rate discrepancies for DEC or SPS tokens between the website and the backend servers that process the payments like there were in some cases during the presale, and additionally since all purchases will be going through Credits it means they will all be eligible to earn affiliate rewards, which were not available for DEC or SPS purchases during the presale.

It looks like an exciting momnent for the game. I'm not much of figures and so on but I only have to take a look to the staked SPS increasing daily to read that people do trust the project and don't care about holding their assets. In my humble opinion that's a good sign.
I've always looked at my cards as unique assets (NTFS) hence able to be collected which means I'm a collector. My view is that with time those cards will be much more valuable than they are nowadays (they have a real decent value).
I wonder if one must keep the presale packs unopened to be elegible for the airdrop cards...
I'm glad to see the game ongoing forward successfully, I only have a complaint: I want more cards in my rewards, I'm getting drunk of "potions" , hahaha

You can open or sell your presale packs and you’ll still get all the airdrop cards. I plan to keep mine unopened for the time being and wait to see what the market does. Dice packs have risen to over $100 each since selling out!

I need to grow my deck so I think I'll open them and maybe will hold some unopened of those that can be normally bought on January.

Does this mean people buying during the second phase will also be eligble for Dr. Blight, or is that limited to people who bought during the pre-sale?

Not eligible as Dr. Blight is a Limited Edition Promo airdrop card and not part of the 13 airdrop cards.

You are eligible for all airdrops, but with one pack chances to be dropped something are pretty slim. If you are really lucky, who knows?
Are the vouchers printed still capped to 1 mil SPS per account ?
Credits only is the worst thing possible. If I convert my entire networth to credits and packs sell out before I can click buy, I go bankrupt.
Under the old system, I just have SPS/DEC to trade to other things. Not Splinterlands gift vouchers.
Also, it's a crypto game, not a traditional game. It's disappointing to have to use Splinterlands IOUs for USD here.
There are plenty of non crypto games that use Disney dollar type currencies that people have to buy and cannot sell.
You won't go bankrupt. In the wild case that you don't get to purchase packs, you'd be able to use credits to buy cards off the splinterlands market, sell them on the market (which would give you DEC), and then cash out from there. Sure there is a 5% market fee, but I'm pretty sure that scenario isn't going to be necessary.
We will always refund any purchases of Credits for any reason as long as they haven't been used.
I just realized that it is not possible to buy Credits with DECs on Splinterlands. There is SPS, ETH even Enji coin but not DEC. Maybe you can check it out?

Using credits to buy packs is fine with me. Making it impossible to buy packs with DEC (the currency of the game) is the dumbest idea i ever heard of. This will only force a sell off of the token thus resulting in a lower market cap for DEC. I sure hope you guys have a plan here because I do not see it. Why would you ever restrict DEC from buying packs? Give me a single valid argument on this please and I will be as understanding as I possibly can. @yabapmatt Aside from this huge ridiculously unnecessary inconvenience, I love what you guys have done for the game. You will be able to buy Credits with DEC before the Chaos Legion release, so that is how players can buy packs with DEC. Of course we will always accept DEC for all purchases within the game.
Why involve credits tho? Why not just allow the use of DEC directly? I just do not understand the added step of inconvenience sorry.

Refund credits to what? DEC or SPS? I personally do not want to sit on credits if all packs sold off, are you doing this for general sales too>?

Great news and nice move with Credits as a stable price for purchasing, while enabling affiliates to earn something from that. Another thing given to the players to earn more, it is clear the Splinterlands puts the community on top of what they are doing and this is the key to why this awesome play2earn blockchain game on Hive is thriving!

Presale was simply $4 a pack. If you chose not to participate in the presale but wanted the benefits of presale airdrops, then you had to purchase vouchers. You even used the words "presale" and "public sale". How are you confused on the difference?
It's because of the added benefits like Doctor Blight. Those extras were taken to account for price :)

well, that's because the market decides.. it's not really a sale as in discount it's quite the opposite. the other option would be to just throw them all out for 4 dollar and guess what. whales would get an even bigger chunk of the pie

It is lucky the team care about the community. Means us normal players can buy some too. If not, whales or vc's will buy up all the packs and we will be left buying them at a premium on secondary market. But i understand what you mean 🤑

To purchase packs on Phase 3 requires credits, which means they want to keep the price stable on 4000 credit. When I tried to buy packs on phase 1, The pack price was not stable as you used DEC or SPS. Sometimes it is 360 DEC or more than 400 DEC.

Love everything I read here, but am wondering if the payment with credits only could not have a negative impact on the SPS/DEC price. Wouldn't this mean people will basically sell their SPS/DEC and turn it into FIAT? Yes, in the longer term this will likely make it back into the market through the marketplace when people are selling cards, but wouldn't this cause an initial hit on SPS/DEC?

Why in the world would you ever force a sell off of your own token? Some of the things this team does really baffles me. So now the thing to do is sell all the DEC I was going to buy packs with to the market? Please hire a an Analytics major. Any more last minute changes we should be aware of? Thanks for the surprises.

Anyone know how to trade your DEC and SPS to Credits? The swap feature on hive-engine is usually down for maintenance and tribaldex isn't as user friendly. Are they going to add this feature in game? Or do we do it on the market?

I got zero headaches from this one. I used one voucher I think, maybe it was two... I have every RF chaos legion card except for blight (most only level 2) and 59 different chaos legion gold foils that I bought 2 of each and combined. I did not use the voucher system. Instead I spent under $2500 on the market. I bought 100 packs and whatever I was missing from the packs I just filled in the blanks buying cards on monstermarket. I do not have a ton of duplicates that I do not need this way. If you want the set and do not like the voucher system then just buy it on the market and dont think about the airdrops. If you want a blight then buy one, problem resolved right? I might have paid a small premium but I was driving the decisions of the cards I got also. Might not have been the most efficient or smartest way to do it but its how i chose to do it. I did get a gold foil legendary on the 27th pack and chose to keep opening the rest of the packs as well. My only regret is opening more packs after the gold foil legendary dropped. I am happy with my chaos legion cards and didnt need 2000 lotions either.
I was curious how many of the 2 million packs was sold in the phase 2?
This honestly has been the most confusing and most aggrevating release i have ever been involved in. I lost alot of money to start, and now i am not even getting the airdrops? What is going on. I thought that for each presale pack was 2% chance to receive a airdrop. Which was explained by aggro that if you bought 50 that was a 100% garuntee of 1 airdrop cards. I didn't get any airdrop so what's up with that?
