"Rewards are reduced by the % of starter cards used" (2022.05.25)

Pfff.

This is the first time I see this message in Splinterlands, so probably it is a new "addition". I really cannot find the words to describe how bad it is to punish the players in the lower leagues.

This game is becoming more and more disappointing day by day. Honestly. The developers are ruining it. Killing it. They are turning the once awesome play-to-earn game into a bad pay-to-win game.

Honestly. Absolutely disappointing. This game was one of my favorite games in the previous few years.

I really do not like the direction Splinterlands is heading to, and I am seriously considering selling all of my Splinterlands cards after the end of the SPS airdrop, which will be approximately in two months.

img_0.8196606474531795.jpg

My total Splinterlands card collection is currently worth $188.94 USD. This is not much, but this money probably would be in a much better place, if I would put it into Hive Dollars (HBD) savings.

By the way, today I reached the Bronze II League.

And the Bronze I League too.

img_0.22513672002884605.jpg

Today I completed two daily quests. The rewards are the usual disappointing shit. Alchemy potion charge and 14 credits.
img_0.3454015102466275.jpg

img_0.8060151537037876.jpg

Currently I am in the lower end of the Bronze I League.

img_0.34132920988768567.jpg

And I am currently amongst the top 100 000 players. I am currently the 95 110th. I played 57 battles in this season so far, and I won 32 battles, so my current win rate is 56.14%.

img_0.5208115935931724.jpg

I played 8133 battles so far, and I won 4190 battles, so my current total win rate is 51.51%. I am playing Splinterlands since 2018.12.30.

img_0.33151852520798497.jpg

As you can see on the screenshots above, nowadays I am putting the time and the effort into the game, but probably not for long. The changes in the reward system (at least the above mentioned change) in the recent past are making the experience of the players in the lower leagues even more bad, and I do not support punishing none of the players.

Every player should be encouraged and properly rewarded.

Good luck and have fun.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

Do you know the legal name of @themarkymark ???? It is needed to contact his local police station. Any information to his whereabouts would be much appreciated.

Luckily, I am already in the diamond league thus the rewards are better. My wife is however in the bronze league and I must say to receive 1 credit or 1 potion as reward is frustrating. In the lower levels there should be more cards as rewards!!

I must however say that staking SPS gives great interest at the moment!!

Yes. Nowadays Splinterlands (at least its tokens) is much better as an opportunity for investors than a game for players, which is sad.

This was announced over a month ago, giving you time to prepare for it, so you were probably not watching the Town Halls/ keeping up with the news.

These changes will increase rewards by a lot starting with the new season next week, making Splinterlands a true play2earn game again. Lower leagues and new players will benefit from this tremendously, as long as they own the cards they play with. Luckily there's still enough Chaos Legion packs and cards on the market to build a cheap collection for everyone who is interested in playing the game. Your $188 would be far and enough to build some good bronze decks and earn you way more than before.

If you're interested in how you can start the game today for only $21 and earn that back through rewards in 2 month, check out this post.

I really did not watched it, and I am surprised how the other players did not opposed this. Probably many people did not watched it either.

That is good, because nowadays I very rarely receive reward cards or anything valuable.

Good luck and have fun.

Part of it is to help combat bots i think. Having cards is more important now, which means youd have to put money into the game or rent. Tough situation my friend.

Do not worry. I will not. As long as the game gives worthless things as rewards. There is no motivation from the game. It feels as if the game would try to force us to invest into it, which is bad. It should encourage us.

Nowadays the developers are using very bad tactics. Hopefully they will realize it, before they completely ruin the game.

Have the changes already taken place? I thought it wouldn't happen until the start of the new season. It's kind of hard but the new changes don't really boost much in the rewards for the low-ranking players and I feel that it caters to the higher-ranked players.

I do not know, but this "reduced rewards" message is new for me. This is the first time I saw it.

I am gonna put a disclaimer at the start as this might sound confrontational to some. You have been playing SPL since end of 2018, which was when it first initially start I presume and everything was pretty affordable. How do you only have so little cards? Surely you can't be playing in Bronze League for 3 years.

With some of the income from Hive, you could have rented (if you didn't feel inclined to buy) cards regularly and played in the higher leagues for better rewards.

I think the expectation of being financially vested in a P2E game to earn rewards should be the way to go, if not people would just be stripping value from the game and eventually it would just die a slow and painful death.

I was in the Silver III league a few times. I sold all of my beta cards a few years ago. I did that, because I needed the money.

Nowadays I rarely rent and buy Splinterland cards. There is no encouragement from the game, but only force and punishment.

And I do not like this.

Splinterlands was a very good game in the past. It was one of my favorites. But the changes in the recent past is indeed feels like an attempt to kill the game by bleed it out.

Force and punishment will not encourage players to invest in the game. It will only scare them away.

I understand your point, but the developers should use a different approach. Encouraging players to invest in it would be the best for this game, and not forcing and punishing them.

If the game would encourage me, then I would feel inclined to buy and/or rent cards. I hope that the developers of the game will consider a different approach to reach this with the game.

Otherwise Splinterlands will slowly lose its players in the lower leagues.

I appreciate that you wrote your views and thoughts honestly. Thank you.

Good luck and have fun.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

Thanks for the honest reply! Was not expecting such a detail response from you.

Personally, I am ok with the non-starter rule change, what I find questionable is the new reward system which I feel encourages people to grind it out for chests. Grinding is understandable for F2P games as you want the users to spend $ on the game. But in a P2E game which requires you to invest, that makes a lot less sense.

I started play around a year ago and was playing heaps, renting a decent amount and was in Diamond league for a few seasons, but had to drop out as rental got too expensive and not worth the grind. Stopped playing for a few months since CL dropped and kept wanting to get back into it, but just reluctant to put too much effort into it and finding excuses to delay getting back....

If you don't need the money urgently, would be best to rent your deck out while you wait for the assets to increase in value. My rentals get around 9% ROI which is decent, and it gives me SPS as well. Maybe there might be another pump this year or next in anticipation of land release.

I am curious, why? Nowadays I often write long comments to various people. Sometimes even longer than my posts.

As I see it, Splinterlands is turned from a play-to-earn game to a mostly pay-to-win game in the recent few years. It is a mix of these two, but nowadays it is mostly the latter.

Stopped playing for a few months since CL dropped and kept wanting to get back into it, but just reluctant to put too much effort into it and finding excuses to delay getting back....

I also took a break from playing it a few times, but I returned to it.

If you don't need the money urgently, would be best to rent your deck out while you wait for the assets to increase in value.

While I was on the break from playing, I did it on PeakMonsters.

My rentals get around 9% ROI which is decent, and it gives me SPS as well.

I leased out a part of my Splinterlands card collection around February, and the return on it was somewhere between 10% and 20%.

Maybe there might be another pump this year or next in anticipation of land release.

We will see.

I'm kinda souring on Splinterlands too. It does seem they find a way to reduce rewards all the time, but most importantly, I just suck at this game. I can't win to save my life. I'm MUCH better at Gods Unchained.

I can win the battles in Splinterlands. I won a little bit more than the half of my battles so far, which is considered very good. But recently all Splinterlands is trying to do is to discourage, punish and force (the players in the lower leagues in general), instead of encourage and reward, and this feels very bad.

I have not tried Gods Unchained so far, but soon I will try it out.

Good luck and have fun.

The cool thing about Gods Unchained is that you don't have to put any money into it at all. Of course, if you do put money in, you will advance faster and earn more, but you can just play the game without any investment and make a little.
