Splinterlands:Camouflage Ruleset Sabotages My Opportunity Assassin. Arachne Weaver’s Corrupted Healing Dragged the Fight, But Magic Monsters Still Crushed It!

Good morning warrior! How is the grinding panning out? win or lose we battle on.Welcome to my blog @zusi78. I want to share with you this interesting battle were my magic monsters still carried the day after series of corrupted healing performed by my opponents' monster ARACHNE WEAVER.And I would also talk extensively on the ruleset CAMOUFLAGE,the #splinterlands community call it "now you see me"🤗

Battle Setup & Ruleset

The rule for this battle is;

Camouflage also known as, now you see me.That is, (every single unit on the battlefield receives the Camouflage ability).

The total mana cost of this battle was 42,and you are to chose splinters from every elements except dragon and earth.

• Summoner: Marlai Singariel (magic-heavy buffs, perfect for my backline damage dealers).

• Halfling Refugee – melee attack, Weary + Heal
• Daigendark Surveyor – magic reflect.
• Abyssal Elemental – magic attack + Resurgence.
• Arachne Skinwalker – magic attack + Shapeshift + Inspire.
• Captain Fellblade – magic attack + Sneak + Opportunity.
• Gramel the Hunger – charge + Scattershot.

Opponent Summoner: Thalgrimore

Opponent Lineup (tank to back):

• Nim Guard Captain – melee attack + Void
• Ujurak Brave – melee attack + Immunity + Silence (assist tank)
• Arachne Weaver – magic attack + Corrupted Healing
• Dark Arborist – magic attack + Demoralize + Magic Reflect
• Broken Earth Thug – melee attack + Opportunity + Cripple
• Meriput Slinger – ranged attack + Impede

Before now,Captain Fellblade would have taken out Arachne weaver with its sneak and opportunity ability.But camouflage was at play, with waves of corrupted healing from Arachne weaver.

Conclusion
My Verdict; Understanding the ruleset camouflage.

This is the exact reason the battle dragged and why previous games played out differently.
Captain Fellblade’s Opportunity + Sneak combo normally snipes low-health backline supports (like the Weaver) because:
Opportunity = “Targets the enemy unit with the least health.” It ignores position and goes straight for the weakest link.
Sneak = Targets the last position specifically.
In my other battles (standard or non-Camouflage rulesets), the Weaver was probably the lowest-health threat or sitting in a snipe-able spot, so Fellblade usually deleted it early with the magic attack.

But Camouflage changed everything.
Official Camouflage ability:
“Cannot be directly targeted unless in the first position. Does not affect indirect attacks (e.g. Scattershot, Blast splash damage, or Trample).”
It stays active the entire battle, regardless of other modifiers.Because the ruleset gave Camouflage to EVERY unit, the Arachne Weaver (sitting in position 3) was invisible to direct targeting abilities like Opportunity. Fellblade literally could not select it as the lowest-health target. The game forced the attack onto the only legal direct target: the opponent’s tank (position 1, Nim Guard Captain). That’s why you saw Fellblade hammering the front line instead of sniping the Weaver like usual.
The Weaver stayed alive far longer, spamming Corrupted Healing to keep its allies topped up. The battle turned into a slow grind as described.
