As we are awaiting for the current Splinterlands season to end in less than 2 days time(1 Day 20 hours to be precise), I make an effort to bring you a battle with Javelin Thrower, the Earth splinter monster as part of the Splinterlands Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge.

If you ask Splinterlands battlers whether they use this monster regularly, most of them will say yes because of it's high ranged attack, speed and also the abilities of Dodging and Piercing.

Javelin Thrower, a Rare Earth splinter monster is one of the most used monsters.

image.png

As we can see above, it has very good stats for a 5 MANA cost monster.

Let's see these in detail.

Attack:

One of the good ranged attack starting with 2 and increases to 3 from level 4 and to 4 from level 7 onwards.

Speed:

Good speed starting with 4, increasing to 5 from Second level to Fifth level and eventually to 6 from level Six onwards.

Health:

A health of 4 isn't bad for this monster as it get's increased by one with Earth Splinter and it increases to 5 from Third level and to 6 in the last level i.e. Eighth level.

Javelin Thrower has abilities like Piercing and Dodging.

Piercing

Piercing ability enables the monster to tresspass thru armors and reduce the health of attacked monster.
This ability is available from level 1 itself.

Dodging

Dodging gives an increased chance of evading the attack from melee or ranged monsters.
Dodging ability is available from level 5 and is quite useful.

Battle and Lineup:

OK guys, as you can see, this was a battle of Earth Splinters and there was a MANA cap of 46 involving Earthquake and Lost Legendaries scenarios.

My lineup for this battle was something I use in most of the battles and here it is:

1. Nectar Queen:

image.png

I included this as front monster for couple of reasons, one being the Flying ability to survive in Earthquake battles and second being it's high health to survive for few rounds besides it's high melee attack of 4.

2. Orc Sergeant:

image.png

I use this in almost all the battles in second position because of it's inspire ability to increase the melee monsters attack and for it's reach ability so that it can even attack from second position being a melee monster.

3. Screeching Vulture:

image.png

My third position monster again in many battles just because it's a melee monster and that Opportunity ability along with Scavenger ability makes it suitable for this position.

4. Javelin Thrower:

image.png

With a 4 ranged attack, I use this in fourth position inspite of it being a non flying monster because it has health of 5 and can survive atleast 3 rounds.

5. Wood Nymph:

image.png

Who doesn't want to include a healing monster? Especially this being a Earthquake battle, I need this at last but one position.

6. Prismatic Energy:

image.png

Last on this lineup was Prismatic Energy for it's huge health and can provide 2 magic attack.

OK, before I move onto the battle rounds, let me also tell that, opponent had used a bit of different lineup in Flesh Golem, Goblin Thief, Mushroom Seer, Javelin Thrower, Wood Nymph and Earth Elemental.

So, we are set for the battle rounds to begin!!!

Round 1:

As you can see, the lineup from both sides had some high profile monsters and there weren't any casualties in first round except that earthquake early in second round means Goblin Thief was almost about to be removed.

Round 2:

With earthquake and attack from high speed monsters like Javelin Thrower and Prismatic Energy, opponent lost 3 monsters in this round starting with Flesh Golem followed by Goblin Thief and Mushroom Seer.

Sadly, Mushroom Seer wasn't able to poison in these 2 rounds and that is a big difference in Nectar Queen surviving till end.

Round 3:

Earthquake again ended the front monster like in previous round and it was Javelin Thrower and soon Wood Nymph followed it as well leaving Earth Elemental only.

That too got removed with Screeching Vulture and my Wood Nymph removing it.

Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?

As you can see, I had all my 6 monsters surviving till end in an earthquake battle and that shows my strategy worked :)

What I could have tried differently? Do you see any scope for improvement in my lineup for the MANA cap we had? I don't think so as each monster I lined up had specific jobs and abilities.

Do I use the JAVELIN THROWER often? Why or why not?

100%, it's among my all time favorites and whenever there is enough MANA cap to accommodate it, I don't hesitate to include that!!

Well, that is all I could write for now guys.
It was a nice battle and even my opponent @threejay will appreciate that.

Thanks for reading this, Have a good day :)

Thank you @stever82, I got those screenshots from Lore tab of Splinterlands for each of those monsters I mentioned.

I think @reeta0119 gets even better images with white background and those looks even better, may be those are from different website..
Is it splinterlore.com @reeta0119?
