#FungiFriday | The Beauty of Forest Mushrooms Amidst the Damp Soil

Today, I discovered a unique mushroom growing on the surface of a decaying tree trunk. The mushroom's color was a striking reddish-brown with a soft, velvety texture. To the touch, its surface felt slightly damp due to the wet conditions after last night's rain.
This mushroom grows in clusters, forming small colonies that appear to be stacked on top of each other. Its slightly rounded and bulging shape makes it look like a row of small, maroon stones. The dim light from between the leaves adds a mysterious and natural feel, as if this mushroom holds a hidden story of forest life.
Mushrooms like this usually appear in areas with high humidity and good air circulation. They play a vital role in the ecosystem, helping to decompose dead wood so that nutrients can return to the soil. The presence of mushrooms is a sign that the surrounding environment is still healthy and pristine.
Seeing mushrooms up close further amazes me about the biodiversity around us. Although often overlooked, mushrooms have incredibly artistic shapes and colors when examined closely.
📸 I took this photo in a damp area near a rotting tree trunk, using natural afternoon lighting.
📱 Lightly edited using Photoshop Express to highlight the details of the color and texture of the mushroom.
