Hello everyone! For today's post, I would like to share my fan art for a Soulbound Reward card from Fire Element. It has been long since I last draw and making this one was kind of an escape from the busy world outside. This is an entry to Splinterlands Art Contest. If you would also like to participate, here is the original post - Splinterlands Art Contest Week 231!

Here is my reference card for this fan art. I have also included a part of its Lore.

It's always cool to check the lore of each card to really know their background.

Upon joining the order of the Augur Monks, each new initiate is assessed for talents and interests. Firecallers are specialists that show a strong control over fire magic, as well as selfless compassion for others, and are tasked with protecting those in need. They defend the order, the land, and others from threats such as raiders, monsters, and even raging wildfires.

To be a firecaller is to learn extreme control over emotions, which can rage out of control just as quickly as a flame. Firecallers spend time each day deep in meditation, focusing on a state of tranquility. Because of this, they can be difficult to read and understand. Stoic and centered, they are idealized for their magical prowess and mysterious nature.

For this fan art that I made using Sketchbook mobile, I tried making the character a less intimidating by making the art style a little cute or chibi. I began by constructing a round head and a small frame for its body. After getting contented, I started laying out the other details like the hair, clothes and other accessories.

In this part, I removed the ears because its kinda getting more attention than the whole head. I then traced the outline and added the base color. I started applying shades on the hair and tried to make it like a fire.

After I finished the hair, I applied shades of red on the face and also added the eyes. The original art of this character has menacing eyes but for this art, I made them huge to fit in to the chibi style. I then added shades of color to its dress and accessories. For the fire, I smudge a combination of yellow orange and red and tried to add more details on each stroke.
Here's the final result, with small dots on the background to simulate cinders of fire. What I like about this piece of art is how it depicts the cool flow of fire. As its name implies, Firecaller, it looks like its enjoying wielding those fires around. The fire was my favorite part to make. It's kind of relaxing to make each stroke as the color blends and the shape of the fire takes shape. 😄
