Gods Unchained Lost half A Million Dollars on Ethereum Blockchain

avatar

Imagine raising $15 million dollars and having the hubris/ignorance/vanity to flush 1/30th of that down the drain. Imagine they were only about to loose 20% - 25% of that and they were forced to pay more by those who were providing the service! Sounds crazy..... but that's Ethereum for you.

I Was Reading Some Old Hive Posts

Then I come across this comment from @themarkymark
It sounded more like insanity to me. Imagine what you could do with this much money! You could hire few full time devs/artists for an year!

Imagine Getting Shut Down By Miners...... For Being Efficient!

I thought crypto was about reducing the costs, cutting down waste and making everything faster & more efficient. What were the miners thinking? Do they want smart contracts to be dumb? Why do they intentionally make these things more expensive? Who pays the price........? It's going to be the customers/users at the end.

Introducing Immutable X

Since our beta launch in 2018, Gods Unchained has grown significantly, both in size and quality (as those who have been with us since the beginning will be well aware of). With the launch of our first official season just around the corner, we’re looking to continue this growth trajectory, amplifying it for the following season, then building upon that for the next, and the next, and the… okay, we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

To help make this goal possible, we’re building Immutable X, a decentralized, non-custodial exchange that scales trading on the Ethereum network with instant settlement and zero gas fees. Sound like a lot? It is!

Immutable X will be a high speed exchange that provides a superior user experience to standard blockchain trading. It will offer fast, reliable trades with minimal transaction fees and support both first- and third-party assets within the Immutable ecosystem. Crucially, Immutable X will be non-custodial, meaning users will have complete control over their assets at all times and won’t have to place their trust in Immutable to hold and manage their assets for them.

Devs had to build all of these just to keep the game running. Even these stuff have not been able to make the game experience smooth like @splinterlands. Best part is that quick Tx with 0 fees was already a feature for any Hive Dapp by default. Devs on Hive can actually spend their time on building their Dapp instead of infrastructure.

It's Not An Attack - It's A Bull Case

Imagine someone stopped you from spending half a million dollars and offered even better service at zero fees. That's what Hive is. __This is why I'm saying we could be bigger than dumb contract Ethereum!

Our problem is not enough knows about Hive and those who do are too arrogant or close minded enough to flush six figures of $$$ down the drain to give users a worse UX.

Compare & Contrast : Splinterlands vs Gods Unchained

I guess you don't need to be told which is which. I'll just remind you that one of them is on Ethereum and got $15 million in Series A funding.

Wow, what a joke. And I thought Ethereum was the leading edge. Hive has so much potential but the price is in the gutter. Ethereum has so much problems with fees, late 2.0, etc and yet is pumping in value, with so many projects using the ERC-20 platform. What's going on?

One thing Ethereum has is tons of devs and more brand recognition. After than we get all the pumping from shills etc. I don't even follow ETH news anymore. It's outdated tech. If Hive can get few Dapps popular like Splinterlands or https://leofinance.io we'll be able to get in more devs working on stuff o Hive and have more community.

Ethereum has money; that is where it is located. Hence, the success of the DeFi craze.

However, the fees are still difficult to handle.

I think this is one of the reasons for the recent push to decentralize Hive-Engine. Part of this is being done while they are trying to expand their smart contracts. This is to provide the tools to developers who want to transition over.

Hive certainly is a better option for gaming than Ethereum. As you stated, the drawback tends to be smart contracts. This is being worked on.

It is likely that Hive bags a few "big names" over the next couple years as people realize that Ethereum (and other chains) have issues while Hive is still fast and feeless.

Best part would be that smart contracts won't be 1st layer. The network can run smoothly as usual while the new features are added. Hive-Engine could learn a bunch of stuff from KOIN team (ex-Steemit) too.
