I include a link to the initial goal-setting post for 2023, for reference, if needed.

Yesterday, I had a better understanding of what Land Surfing should be for Land, thanks to Bulldog's post. Basically, I see it as a reinterpretation of renting for land, since that part would have run into some technical difficulties to be developed like we know renting for cards.

Looks like Land 1.5 will come first (probably at the beginning of August, said Bulldog, and it makes sense), and a few weeks later Land Surfing will be added too.

It seems like only a small percentage of all plots will have enough DEC and cards to be worked on when Land 1.5 arrives. This means two things:

  • Land SPS rewards will be split among fewer players, at least for a while, so they are expected to be higher for those receiving them.
  • Land Surfing is meant to normalize this situation to some extent, as more players who don't own land come in with their own DEC and cards and participate in working the land that is not worked by the owner (land owner receives some of the rewards).

How does that affect my Splinterlands Land focus? Well, it brings some clarity, and that's always good from the point of view of managing goals.

Looks like I'll have to plan to clear all my plots relatively soon. It will be great if other players will start working on my unused plots while I grow my DEC and have the necessary cards to work them myself. Obviously, if I receive part of the rewards, otherwise, what's in it for me as an owner?

As mentioned in one of the previous posts, I won't pay to unlock soulbound reward cards for land, so I already replaced the 2 soulbound cards I planned to add on land from the start with 2 tradable cards. I also picked a couple of new cards that I'll use (and others will come).

Let's see what changed since last week regarding my Hive goals.

HIVE Power (HP) + HBD in Savings Main Goal

My staked HIVE reached 32,151 HP this week, and I already have the liquid HIVE for the next HPUD; but the one in September will be more complicated, I believe. My savings remained constant at 203 HBD this week, even though I added more liquid HBD from author rewards.

Here's what the evolution of the HP+HBD goal looks like (nice jump on the HBD target due to the HIVE price increase):

image.png

I'll need to have one of the targets (HBD or HIVE) reached to consider this goal completed.

If a target becomes too easy, I may increase the target, but not forever. Just like the market can play against your targets, they can play in their favor too.

LEO Staked Main Goal

I staked 200 LEO on LPUD last week and reached 16,270 LP.

image.png

Started to keep a small amount of liquid LEO for a while now, in case it pumps hard without warning. Not that I'm expecting it in the next period, but that's the point. It happens when you don't expect it.

Splinterlands Land Expansion Main Focus

Land expansion's main focus extends throughout 2023. Unless I change the strategy, it will be the only main focus / main goal for Splinterlands in 2023. But there will be several 1-3 months goals.

First Land-Related Goal: DEC/DEC-B Saved - Completed

This goal is COMPLETED.

Deadline (passed): When DEC-B offer runs out, either because all were sold out or because the time limit was reached (April 9th).

Target to consider the goal completed: 1.5 mil. DEC-B saved. Done!

DEC Saved 2 Goal - Stage 1 Completed

[COMPLETED] Deadline stage 1: June
Deadline stage 2: August
Deadline stage 3: End of 2023?

Target to consider the goal completed:

  • stage 1: 1.2m DEC (COMPLETED)
  • stage 2: 2.2 DEC (1m additional DEC)
  • stage 3: 5 DEC (2.8m additional DEC)

Current situation: 1.2m DEC (liquid) and 71k DEC x 2 = 142k DEC in SPS:DEC diesel pool.

New Land-Related Goal: Cards for Staking on Land Stage 1 Completed

The purpose of this goal is to build the amount of high PP cards I need for staking on my tract.

We will need to fill 5 slots per plot with staked cards, without requiring summoners (that doesn't mean they can't be used as regular cards).

So, what are the details of this goal?

Deadline:

  • [COMPLETED] Stage 1: June 2023
  • stage 1.5: August
  • stage 2: End of 2023 (this will be a new goal)

The total number of maxed-level* cards needed for staking on land: 500 (5 x 100).

  • stage 1: need 120 cards for land by the deadline (decreased from 220) COMPLETED
    • stretch goal: have optimized cards for 24 plots COMPLETED
  • stage 1.5: need 220 cards for land by the deadline
  • stage 2: have 500 cards for land
    • stretch goal: have optimized cards for 44 plots

(*) any card with at least 1000 PP suitable for the terrain types I own will do (better for better plots); doesn't have to be maxed

Current situation total: 129 / 500 (25.8%)

Current situation stage 2: 9 / 100

Time remaining until Stage 2 deadline: max 3 weeks

Note: I already replaced the 2 soulbound reward cards I had planned to use on land and will have to fill all the remaining spots with tradable cards only.

Comments Made

Original goal: 18k, REDUCED to 17k, by the end of 2023.

I started this week with a total of 14625 comments made.

Ended the week with 14698 comments made, which brings the number of my comments this week to 73. In a downtrend the last 5 weeks, and now below the average... I keep saying I need to be more active on Threads to reverse the trend! At some point, I'll actually have to do it, despite not really feeling like it during these hot days.

I now need an average of 96 comments weekly to reach the goal of 17k.

Weekly Buy - LGN

I like the passive component of certain dividend tokens on Hive-Engine. Generally, I don't invest a lot in HE tokens (with the exception of Splinterlands tokens and LEO, so far), but I do round up my holdings in certain areas.

LGN is one such dividend token that pays HIVE and, since they stopped the airdrop to BRO token holders, the way to get more is to buy them (there are added as rewards in some diesel pools).

Today I added a few more. My target is probably 100 of them, just like for BRO. Up to 500 USD together (when not pumping).

You are doing very well mate, IT's good to have some liquid Leo to get benefit from the sudden pump.

I could use a little more liquid for this kind of opportunity, but I can help it and stake most of it, lol.

Good job, @gadrian I'm listening to Bulldog's post and listening to the idea of working the land by other people. It's interesting. Will the land game be separate from the monster game? Or will the monsters be running through the land as well? Thank you. Have a great week ahead. 😃 Barb !BBH !CTP

The workers on land will be the "monsters", meaning existing (and future) cards, Barb. It's a way to give utility to some of the cards less useful in the current gameplay but with great productivity on land.

I have picked up a couple more plots of land which will absorb my higher level cards.
I am looking at the land surfing and will probably put a lot of low level cards to work. It will be interesting how the mechanics work. Is there one day delay from assigning to starting work on all land? Then there is the 3 day cooldown when kicked off a property.

Lots of fun...

Congrats on getting more plots!

As far as I know, production starts as soon as worker cards are staked and the working option is selected. So, there isn't a 24 delay. There is a 3-day delay when unstaked, that's right, which means we have to be careful where we stake what.

As for land surfing, I'm not sure how it'll work since I haven't heard/read the information firsthand, but Bulldog said those with the higher PP cards staked will earn. I assume there will be some sort of bidding option or kicking-out option based on the PP of the cards staked. The owner always earns, regardless of the PP of the cards he stakes, as far as I understood, which eliminates the possibility of someone kicking you out of your own land.

Correct placing a single BCX card on your property locks it from being surfed.

Your goals and stakes are fascinating and has the tendency of spurring likeminds. I wish you greater heights and better days ahead.

has the tendency of spurring likeminds

That's one of my undeclared goals! :)

I wish you greater heights and better days ahead.

Thank you!

It looks like the land surfing has made it less important to get all the tokens/cards ready for your land plots.

Nice progress on your goals.

Yeah! I will certainly not push very hard on my Splinterlands goals for the rest of the year. I have an interesting plan for next year already although not sure if I'll apply it.
