Before I dive into the post, let me just apologize for doing 2 pieces of content on the same day...I messed up with some scheduling of posts and let's be honest, I'm just trying to capture my inner @taskmaster4450 and be like that legend ;)

So...I noticed something tonight on...Twitter!

CoinGeckocoingeckoTwitter.png

This was a Tweet from @coingecko that was talking about a 'Move 2 Earn' token that apparently was doing really well on the markets.

Move 2 Earn. Huh...lol.

The idea behind this model is that your daily activity can earn you crypto currency. Of course, the first thing I thought about when I saw this was...Hive's own @Actifit

Interesting enough, this app has been around for years but now there seems to be a push for this new category in the crypto space. It's been here, with real use case for years...

That made me think of...

#Play2Earn

Now I'm not sure who was first, but let's be honest...

@Splinterlands has been on the forefront of this space for years and continues to grow and promote this category to the masses.

Move 2 Earn, Play 2 Earn....Blog 2 Earn. Seems like the majority of these new 'proofs' get their start or really hit their stride right here on the Hive blockchain. Interesting right?

The problem is...Timing.

This is the double edged sword of being ahead of the curve with these kind of projects and applications...By the time everyone jumps on board, the highways have been paved and at times the originals get lost in the noise.

I really hope this isn't the case with the projects on Hive because we've got a bunch...

From @LeoFinance 's #ProjectBlank to @dbuzz , decentralized micro-blogging platforms are not just a theory in Elon Musk's dream. Heck, we've been doing it since the Steem days....Anyone remember Zappl?

Everyone whining and complaining about being shadow banned or removed from YouTube, meanwhile we've seen @threespeak lead the charge when it comes to comes to providing a blockchain based alternative.

Literally, everything the 'crypto experts' drool about has already been built on this blockchain.

Timing.

That's what it all comes down to. And for whatever reason the crypto experts refuse to acknowledge Hive and it's amazing community even though when it comes down to it...This blockchain seems to be light years ahead of the curve.

It brings me back to my post from last week when i asked what was the reason that Hive continues to be ignored? I just do not understand how such a pioneering community that literally has everything the crypto space apparently desires...Continues to be ignored.

Is it timing?

No matter what the outcome may be, I'm so honored to be a part of this blockchain community. I can see, how far we've come and how much we continue to build here every day.

Eventually, I think our 'time' is coming...

Trying to time things is just way too tough. You might be right about the idea but might be too early and it fails. Later down the line, someone might do something similar and it works out because the timing is right. I don't even know how people can time things correctly so the best thing to do is just build.

Personally speaking, I know how 'rough' it can be for trying to get the timing right. There are days, inside our own businesses, I feel that we are too early to the game lol

Timing is an important thing to take note of in daily life. One might be timely but not every time though!

One thing is for sure, hive blockchain is indeed a pioneering crypto blockchain. Sometimes I marvel at genius ideas and how massive this chain is. And it bothers me so that it hasn't gotten the recognition it deserves because as you rightly pointed out in your post, hive,

  • " literally has everything the crypto space apparently desires...Continues to be ignored."*

Maybe more A.M.A should be done on each project on hive and probably timing, but no one can really get the timing.

So let's LFG! Hive and put it out there the more for people to know about this wonderful community.

Hahaha well, we might soon be having #breath2earn, I think it'll come to a stage where everything we do can earn us crypto. I believe, Hive wouldn't be ignored for long. We're on the cusp of great things.

Perhaps that's another reason Hive is being ignored. Too advanced, too early in what experts consider the latest trend.

Timing it is the most important thing.

A excellent idea can fail if be launched in the wrong timing.
But if be launched in the right timing it can be hugely successful, such as cases like Uber, Uber Eats, AirBnB, etc.

Yup, exactly. That's my concern...Being too early sometimes, bites us.

We have a good example of that in crypto world that is B-Money creted by Wei Dai at 1998.

If currently many people don't understand Bitcoin imagine in 1998.

I think we are quite impatient. It is a question of time and to show the advantages that it has. I compare it to drilling a hole in the wall, first it costs a lot but then it's butter.

Guess we are early then 🤣
It is not a bad position to be in i don't think.
Most people think they are being ahead of the curve jumping from one centralized social media to another because it is all they know.
Joke is all these centralized platforms are owned by the same groups so they are just basically new centralized skins with a different load-outs to put it in gamer terms 🤣
But it is just the same shitty game 😎
People will wake up to Hive eventually, you will be a whale by then 🤣

Success is harder to time. Like we just don't know if any blockchain would pick up. I think a lot of projects and the people who churn on those platforms tend to have the timing benefit. Some work out and some of the others don't get much advantage. I guess being patient and spending the time the right amount of time helps out in the long run on such platforms. But to be honest success often requires the timing and just showing up.

We really do seem to have most of what people are asking for already. I've been enjoying posting photos to Liketu here lately, another new one we got a few months back. That takes care of the basics of Instagram just like that.

I like the sound of Post 2 Earn much more than Blog 2 Earn. The word blog sounds old school to some and intimidates others because they feel like they have to write an essay. We will always have bloggers, but there are many ways to earn on Hive that all deserve to be realized by these crypto people that are wondering when a real Web3 social media will arrive.

If Liketu ever got a mobile app...Oh wow, it's game over. I always thought things like Appics were brilliant for this kind of platform.

It's the eternal question... why with so many dapps is hive mid-market cap and not bringing in the mainstream faster than any other crypto project, it certainly has the depth of different utility.

Here is something I said to someone else the other day and I feel it applies to this post too as I honestly think it is the answer why hive underperforms. I feel like the biggest detriment for say popular YouTubers is bringing their fans over to 3speak simply because of the mainstream media narrative about the risks of crypto. This translates to all hive dapps and communities to an extent. Fear is why they don't move over to web 3.0 options even when de-monotonized. Fear is the most effective tool of governments and intelligence agencies to shift narratives through media and other outlets to make otherwise compassionate people accept atrocities, this has been seen throughout history. It also applies to disruptive technologies that could genuinely destroy institutional monopolies.

The biggest question I ask myself is how to convince people to let go of that fear?

P.s. I came here from listnerds but my CPT VP is depleted right now but I'm gonna save this excellent post so I can upvote it there tomorrow morning :)

Yeah the majority of crypto influencers are hypocrites. They yap about blockchain and crypto every day, yet refuse to use the projects that are in the space right now...Sad lol

Yeah the majority of crypto influencers are hypocrites.

True dat. One of my favorite crypto YouTubers is crypt0 Omar Bamm. Nut he's just put out a video saying fck crypto I've had enough and I'm leaving because I'm an actor and musician and that's my passion,

Which I respect, but he's put all his content from 2016 onwards on auto publish and it makes me sad because I'd much rather watch him (a talented pianist) play piano on youtube every day and I'd upvote him every time. But seeing these videos where he's going on about how bitcoin has just gone from $600 - $1800 has made me do one thing... unsubscribe.

Youtube is honestly a fckn horrible monopoly of a platform.

He was one of the only influencers that actually used this blockchain too. Damn shame, he was one of the good guys.

Yeah man, I agree that I really did like Omar and his content. He seemed honest and just like someone you'd have a beer with and talk Blockchain and have a blast.

But in the video he put up saying he was giving up crypto because his true passion was music the dude was crying, and I felt for him. I put a comment up on his Youtube basically saying follow ur dream m8, make your career in music if that is what makes you happy.

I hope he does find a place to play piano and get paid for it cause it's a hard gig. One of my friends has been in a band that were in the top 10 in the charts here in the UK and even he struggles sometimes to get gigs playing jazz in hotels in London.

Timing is a big part of it but i also thing that development has held us back in a lot of ways.

While a lot of these projects had predecessors on hive. Most of those original projects never came out with a fully functioning and easy to join product.

Actifit is a great idea but a shit exception. The build the alpha app which was a great first draft but never made it any better. Easy to join, more devices, accurate readings. The project is brilliant but the execution is poor.

3speak has the same problems. Overcomplicated and doesn't cater to new users.

The same with dbuzz or any alternatives. None of them created a way to onboard users and grow out the original product. Vimm the same ect...

Splinterlands build the alpha which did ok and got community support form sales and crowdfunding. From there they hired developers and mad eit easy for anybody to join or to play. The built a product that brought in external money and external users. Then kept improving the design.

Leo are on that same curve with onboarding, improving and expanding.

I hope that 3speak are doing the same but i worry again about how over complicated it is. Similar for the rest of the hive based games that still don't have light accounts and direct sign-ups to their game rather than hive.

I'm not worried about the future of hive but i do worry about all of these projects. Five years later and we still have the same basic problems that were always there. Build an app, sign up users, retain them in your app, create a revenue stream, keep developing.

They shouldn't need to know anything about hive unless they want to dig further.

And you know that i love it here but i get frustrated some days looking at the same problems for years on end. Even the tribes are a great idea but haven't been continued to a higher level. Sign-ups, content, customization, advertising, tokens all in one easy place.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Oh I agree...On boarding is still an issue and the over complication of account keys, etc...I've always thought, account creation and growth should be gamified...

So they sign up with a lite account, and once they make a post or comment, it unlocks their posting key with a description of what that does.

Next they earn enough to 'power up or transfer' and that unlocks the active key etc...

All at once is a rough thing to chew on for new people that just want to use it.

There's a lot coming I just wish it was hear already lol I feel like many of these things we have been waiting for a year+ already on. I think it would be really awesome if Hive had some type of managed incubator program which helped app developers on hive and by posting blog posts about the progress could be voted on to fund the project. It makes perfect sense but I feel it's not a direction they are moving in.

Actifit is pretty legit I just hate the spam type posts it makes :D However when project blank rolls around I see that being a perfect match up!

You are right timing is key. TY Beany Babies come to mind at one time these little toys were fetching $1000s of dollars, now a person is lucky to get 10 bucks for one new with tags.
I am hoping that with Hive we are far enough ahead of the curve that I can build a real foundation by the time the real demand becomes epic.

Want NFT's? Hive's got it. Want second layer tokens? Hive's got it. Want token earning blockchain gaming? Hive's got it! Want three-second fee-less transfers? Hive's got it! Want a committed and active community? Hive's got it! This list goes on and on.

But still, HIVE is treated like an "off brand" version of the Ethereum chain. Big names make their NFT's on ETH, gaming is drawn to ETH. Is it the name? Is it Ethereum's price point? Is it HIVE's history forking from STEEM? Is it Justin Sun? I don't know.

At some point, someone is going to slap their forehead when they realize there is a fast, fee-less chain with all the same features (and more) as ETH.

I really think it's just a matter of time before Hive goes to the moon.
Big blockchains like ETH have the money but it's really becoming a big boys club. Most of the opportunities there are not for regular people. (and let's be honest, half of the stuff there are not even running smoothly, it's a mess)
Hive has amazing foundations and can deliver endless opportunities for a large scale of people.
The economic world as we know it is collapsing and at some point, people will start to realize that Hive can solve A LOT of problems. Just a matter of time...'Zappl' 😉
