Happy New Year!

Now that the new year is here and the tax clock has reset, I can start shifting capital around and make some moves. Some of them are below. I'm really glad 2021 is over, and I'm looking forward to what 2022 has to offer. I'm really thankful for being an early adopter of Bitcoin, blockchain, and crypto. Even though my career in network engineering was highly technical, it just doesn't have the same appeal for me anymore. It's a shame not many of my skills translate over. Mostly I've been able to use some Linux and Virtualization skills, which is helpful in running nodes. IT networking has been good to me, and I have so much vested (including the top tier CCIE certification), so I'm not sure if I'm ready to cut bait yet. I think 2022 will be the year I either shit or get off the pot in terms of continuing to be a network engineer.

ENS Airdrop

Jan first is here, and I can finally claim my ENS airdrop. I registered for joshman.eth quite a while ago, and this airdrop was a pleasant surprise. I won't need to pay taxes on it until 2023 since I waited until this morning. Now that it's mine I have to decide what to do with it. I could dump some or all of it, and/or research if I can stake it or get some sort of yield from it. I'm leaning towards selling at least 1/3 of it right away.

Splinterlands

For the same reason I was delaying my claiming of SPS tokens for Splinterlands, but when it dropped below 20 cents, I decided to claim some. I figured that low, I could sell some later at a much higher price and cover taxes. I did delay claiming about 8k of them until today. Once I get to 100k SPS, I plan to sell a bit and use that capital somewhere else. My card rentals took quite a hit since DEC recently took a beating. I feel like it's still worth it for now. Depending on what happens to the market after the general sale for Chaos Legion goes live, I may re-evaluate.

Flux

The price of FLUX was $2.40 this morning, so I dumped all my node-mined coins for a decent chunk of change. Both nodes spit out FLUX coins almost daily. This coin has already more than paid for itself in terms of what it took to mine it, and it's paid a decent chunk back on my GPUs. I hope this project continues to do well, though I admit I still have no idea what it is for.

CeFi Yield

As sites like BlockFi and Ledn continue to drop their tiers and rates, I've been moving more BTC into cold storage. I have mixed feelings about it, but at least it has been forcing me to reduce my 3rd party custodial risk. I was pretty pissed because I moved whatever BAT I had over there (I think it was at 3.5% paid in BTC), but they dropped the yield down to 1.0%. I know I can get multiples of that elsewhere, so I'll most likely be moving it again. This is the exciting game of capital allocation. I've been adding more fixed term steps to my yield ladder on Crypto.com as well. I'm getting closer and closer to having something mature every day. This will be cool because at any given time I need quick petty cash, I can load it straight from crypto to their debit card.
