Two Weeks Into Splinterlands - Hands on Review & Why You Should Join This Blockchain Game

I joined Hive more than two weeks ago. And also started my journey in Splinterlands. A strategy card game based on Hive blockchain.

I have just claimed my first season rewards. My experiences with it have been amazing and worth sharing.

Splinterlands is blend of beautiful graphics and well thought out monster cards fighting mechanics combined with polished in game economy.

It's easy to get lost in chain of fights when you take a quick login only to play a game or two. Be careful 😄.

It might take a few hours to learn how things work. The best start is to go over a brief guide and begin playing.

Accessibility & User Interface

The game is available at splinterlands.com through a desktop browser and is also as an Android & Ios app. There's not much difference between the two except I couldn't find the cards marketplace in the app.

The game features a functional UI which is easy to navigate. The size of icons and buttons is appropriate and their placement is great. You won't be having any trouble in clicking and moving around.

It might not be noticeable as a player but it do makes up for a very smooth gaming experience. So there's a thumbs up for that to developers 👍.

Performance

Hive is no slouch with a transaction processing speed of less than 3 seconds. And game runs fine. I never encountered an error, transactions process like a breeze.

You do have to wait for some tens of of seconds for battles to load and the game lags occasionally while playing battles. But if I compare with the performance of other blockchain games that are live, I have nothing to complain but admire.

Graphics

I believe liking graphics of the game is a subjective topic. Considering graphics to be a parameter to play a game or not is also an individual preference. one of my friend plays a statistics based game. The are millions of people who play pixelated games.

You need $10 to buy the spellbook and start playing. And you don’t need to spend a single dime if you choose not to. Also you can make back those $10 within a month in form of NFT’s if you persist. But it's always helpful to buy a few packs or cards when starting to get your hands on higher league rewards.

Thrilling gaming experience
Its important for a game to be enjoyable, creating wealth for players is secondary. Despite being a auto- battler Splinterlands provides that exciting experience. And after you learn the fundamentals, you can easily find yourself hooked.

Amazing community
Any game is as good as players in it. And I have to say this game’s community is one of the best I have experienced in a while. People are always ready to help and there are all sorts of private giveaways going on. And almost all veterans are kind and welcoming.

Regular Updates & Improvements
The game is still in early stages characterized by active development. It just announced the launch of its governance token SPS which will allow players to vote for proposals for further game development. You can find more about SPS token Here

Overall its a nice game that you should definitely be a part of. With SPS (Governance token) announced, it has never been a better time to start.

You can play practice matches and battles but to unlock and win daily quest rewards as well as season rewards you'll need to buy the spell book.
