May-June Crypto Holdings Review - Leo and Cub my Worst Performing Assets, Splinterlands Defies the Downtrend!

avatar

I'm not expecting massive LEO upvotes for this post because the truth belies the shill-bubble - that Leo and Cub have been my worst performing assets over the last month.

Who'd have thought that despite all the development with Cub Defi these two linked-assets have both fallen in value pretty much in tandem, suggesting that people haven't so much been selling Leo for Cub, they've been selling LEO for something else and then selling Cub as well!

With the exception of increasing my Stables holdings by 30% in the last month, In terms of the number of tokens of each asset my Portfolio has hardly changed at all since early May - I've got a little more Hive and a little more LEO, but everything is broadly the same.

However in terms of dollar value, the major changes are unfortunately the declining value of LEO and Cub, so the balance of my top 11 holdings now looks like this:

Value (1).png

You can see that Hive and Bitcoin are roughly the same (a little misleading as I've picked up more Hive, and a tiny tad more BTC).

Leo has declined massively as a percentage, and Rune has increased as has Splinterlands - Rune was hit less hard by the market decline, Splinterlands assets have actually increased in value!

Eth has remained almost par for value but Cub has decreased in value as much as LEO!

Percentage value declines between May and June

On average I'm down just over 30% - most other things besides Cub and LEO protecting me.

The percent changes for May - June are below - positive = down

Screenshot 2021-06-05 at 19.35.54.png

NB I've bought more stables, I've based the percentage declines above on the relative dollar values May to June, so that should clearly be 0 rather than plus one third.

Hive seems pegged to the value of Bitcoin

Once I factor in my Hive rewards for May, the low 30s percent decline of both Hive and BTC seem VERY similar - I'll take that you know, Hive acting like a crypto stable coin!

Splinterlands assets defy the downtrend

This is great news - so thanks @splinterlands - my investment is up 16% in a month, and that's without any more inward investment!

Eth and Rune only down 8% and 20% respectively

These have both held up fairly well - especially ETH, suggesting there is still a thirst for DEFI and smart contracts more generally, just not for BSC projects!

BNB hit hard, BSC defi tokens harder!

It seems mainly over the last month the market fell out of love with BNB - down 40%, with Cake down 52%

Leo and Cub very poor performers.....

What Can I say? We just have to face up the following fact:

People shilled the fuck out of Leo and Cub for the last 6 months and all along they planned to use Cub Defi as an out-ramp.

They bought the rumour and sold the news.

Truth hurts I guess.

Final thoughts - past performance doesn't necessarily indicate future performance

I actually have slightly more Leo and Cub NOW than he had at the beginning of May. Only a little more as I've been sticking to the stables stacking strategy I've been blogging about for month now.

I think the worst of the price decline is probably behind us and both LEO and Cub could bounce back as part of a wider rebound, however I think this is now more likely to follow a renewed interest in Hive.

Hello 👋 there ! Thank you 🙏 for this report and your honesty.

No need to be a shimmer, just tell the truth, LEO and CUB have had terrible past 2 months.

I believe it is because we are in a period of transition but I could be wrong 😉.

I have increased my assets in the later and sold some stables.

I am also being very conservative with the summer + reopening + regulation FUD + Elon craziness haha 😆.

What is your view in the short term?

Have a great Sunday

Honestly, I'm expecting BTC to go sideways for Summer!

And most of the alts to bounce around a bit but generally follow suit.

My intuition tells me September for crazy moon times, but that may just be wishful thinking!

I tend to agree on both of your expectations but it might also be wishful thinking 💭.

Enjoy your Sunday.

When I saw the decline in leo, I decided to power them all up but then I guess i'll just let cub be, its now become a near future project, or probably it'll bloom at a later stage

I don't know - think about all the DEFI competition!

Leo more so than Cub I think has potential, but on the back of Hive now.

Well I just want to stay on a positive side and be hopeful for cub because that is all I can at the moment. It was so heart wrecking to see it plummet. Hopefully time is of the essense

Love to see Splinterlands doing well :-) I haven't been "investing" with any strategy but just by playing the game and throwing some of my hive post rewards into booster packs, it's fun to build up a collection.

HIVE has been pretty flat lately compared to BTC. It really ought to go up a bit, but it may need some substantial news to drive that. I saw LEO had lost some value, but I'm keeping most of my H-E tokens staked for now anyway. May as well earn what I can and hope for the best. There are just so many now and I am not going to put a dozen tags on every post to make an extra cent.

I hope your finances can sustain you as you work on your plot. Exciting to not be a wage slave, but it means taking some chances.

I think maybe there's too much Hive being printed for the price to increase!

I don't need crypto to survive, I earn enough through my regular blog still!

It's doing pretty well, especially given 2 years of exam cancellations!

Even so it ought to be worth more. The crypto may come into play for your retirement.

yes, it was not bright, i have kind of mix opinion, i will get another 1000 cub to add to my previous 1k, but after that i will exchange cub either to BNB or Cake, i see better use for it, now that pancake swap is first swap globally taking over uniswap. maybe i get lucky and cake reach 100$ next 1-2 years.

BNB is the real winner with all those fees! I quite like Cake too, it's the main thang it seems.

People shilled the fuck out of Leo and Cub for the last 6 months

6 month is too short period to really judge the LEO and cub potential but I was always wondering

  1. What is actual usecase of CUB.
  2. Why PB development is deprioritize for Kingdom.

Unless it get userbase out of Hive/Leo, CUB may tank further.

I think that like any other defi token, its purpose is simply to make more money!

Not much of a use case IMO!

wow, apparently my splinterlands cards are now worth 10k, crazy

If I read your post it seems to me your crypto is a bit too concentrated in the hive ecosystem. But you seem to be taking out a lot of stablecoins so that gives a bit of diversification

Oh I've got that covered:

I'm relying on Hive tanking in price to reduce my relative dollar value in the ecosystem.

lol... I guess you have that covered indeed...

Do you think the Leo token price dump has anything to do with the ongoing DeFi project? Because according to my research, the declining price began shortly after the Cubdefi launch.

I’ll say I have reasons to believe people chose to use their Leo’s to provide LP’s, and tying the price of Leo tokens to other ecosystems like BNB and ETH didnt work out so well due to their downtrend as well.

I’m quite sure it’s temporary though, because BNB and ETH have certainly not reached their tops.

One thing I haven’t been seeing lately though is leofinance’s Ad burn reports, these were one of the major motivations of the platform,...

I'm honestly not sure why people are selling LEO - the price trend seems to have levelled out now in any case.

Going into LPs is as good a theory as any!

It's difficult to be certain!

On the ad burn front everything else seems to be on hold, I guess it's just a matter of focussing on Cub for now!

For some reason, I’ll be pleased to find out that the burn has probably not taken place in a while and perhaps the funds were diverted into paying for the Cub DeFi development,....which makes sense since Leofinance is the holding company, if all goes well, the success of Cubdefi will trickle down back to Leofinance.,so like I said, this does make sense. Except of course I’m totally wrong lol...

How do we study to know if the price of this coin are okay to buy?
