Protect Your Team But Let Your Opponent Suffer | Amazing Battle | Splinterlands Social Media Challenge

avatar

Hello everyone, Welcome to my Splinterlands Social Media Challenge post. In this post, I will talk about Magic Reflect Ability, Throns Ability, Amplify Ability, Void Ability, Affliction Ability and Scavenger Ability, and I will also talk about an amazing battle. I hope it will be useful for you. If you would like to participate in the Splinterlands Social Media Challenge, you can check out this post.

Of course, it is important to have powerful cards in the Splinterlands game, but your skill is much more important, because skill, not power, wins battles. Analyzing your opponent well before the battle and determining your strategy according to the rulesets of the battle and the abilities of your cards will often enable you to achieve victory. Let's take a look at some rulesets and abilities.

Magic Reflect Ability

Monsters with the Magic Reflect Ability, when hit by a Magic attack, return half the damage (rounded up) back to their attacker. Therefore, using the Magic Reflect Ability against Magic Attack Monsters is very effective.

Throns Ability

Monsters with the Throns Ability, when hit with a Melee attack, does 2 Melee damage back to the attacker. Therefore, using the Throns Ability against Melee Attack Monsters is very effective. By the way, Monsters with Reflection Shield Ability do not take damage from Thorns.

Amplify Ability

The Magic Reflect Ability returns damage back to magic attackers, while the Thorns Ability returns damage back to melee attackers. And the Amplify Ability increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy units by 1. Therefore, using the Amplify Ability in combination with these abilities is very effective.

Void Ability

Monsters with the Void Ability reduce damage from Magic attacks by 50%. Therefore, using Void Ability against Magic Attack Monsters will be effective because they take less damage. Additionally, Magic Attack Monsters with Void Ability also take less back damage from Magic Reflect.

Affliction Ability

When Monsters with the Affliction Ability hit a target, they have a 50% chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed. Some monsters are difficult to destroy, especially those that can heal, and the Affliction Ability may be quite effective to make them easy to destroy, so I like to include this ability in my lineup.

Scavenger Ability

Monsters with the Scavenger Ability gain 1 max health each time any Monster dies. The Scavenger Ability is very useful, especially in low-mana battles and in battles with rulesets such as the Born Again ruleset.

Let's review what I mentioned above and these abilities in a battle.

Battle Ruleset

  • Counterspell: All Monsters have the Magic Reflect ability.
  • Briar Patch: All Monsters have the Thorns ability.
  • Born Again: All Monsters have the Rebirth ability.

MY STRATEGY & LINE UP

According to the rulesets of the battle, all Monsters in this battle will have the Magic Reflect Ability, Thorns Ability and Rebirth Ability in addition to the abilities they already have. Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the recent 5 battles of the opposing player, I saw that the deck of the opponent's player was rich in magic attack cards, and I guessed that the opposing player would prefer magic attack monsters and Immortalis as the summoner in this battle, and I will determine my strategy accordingly.

It is not very advantageous to use Melee Attack Monsters in this battle because all Monsters will have the Thorns Ability. In fact, since all Monsters would have the Magic Reflect Ability, it was not very advantageous to use Magic Attack Monsters, but I needed their ability very much in this battle. Also, since all friendly monsters can have Void Ability thanks to Immortalis, using magic attack monsters is no longer advantageous, so I will choose Immortalis as the summoner. However, I will make sure that the magic attack monsters I choose do not have more than 2 magic attacks because I do not want them to take back damage. I will also use Ranged Attack Monsters.

It would be very interesting in the future to release a Summoner that can give Reflection Shield Ability to all friendly monsters, so that choosing Melee Attack Monsters in battles with the Briar Patch Ruleset would no longer be advantageous. I don't know if such a summoner will ever be released, I just wanted to say what was on my mind.

The continuation of my strategy, and my team's lineup is as follows;

LINE UP

Summoner : IMMORTALIS

Immortalis is an Earth Summoner that grants Void Ability and Shatter Ability to all friendly monsters and reduces the health of all enemy monsters by 1. While the Void ability is effective against magic attack monsters, it will ensure that monsters with 2 or less magic attacks in my team do not take back damage in this battle, so I chose Immortalis as the summoner. Additionally, the fact that all monsters in my team have the Shatter Ability can give my team an advantage in this battle.

  • Void Ability : Reduced damage from Magic attacks by 50%.
  • Shatter Ability : Target's armor is destroyed when hit by an attack from Units with Shatter.

Position 1 : MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN

Mycelic Slipspawn is a Earth Monster that can attack the target with magic attacks and has Taunt Ability and Forcefield Ability at level 4. The most important reason why I added Mycelic Slipspawn to my team in this battle is that it is the only monster with the highest health with magic attacks in my deck in terms of mana cost. Mycelic Slipspawn costs 9 mana and has 11 health, which was a significant advantage for this battle. And I put Mycelic Slipspawn in the first position.

  • Taunt Ability : All enemy Units target this Unit (if they are able to).
  • Forcefield Ability : This Unit takes only 1 damage from attacks with power 5 or higher.

Position 2 : REGAL PERYTON

Regal Peryton is a Earth Monster that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has Flying Ability from level 1. Since Regal Peryton has 6 health, I put it in the second position. After Mycelic Slipspawn is destroyed, Regal Peryton will move into first position.

  • Flying Ability : Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the Flying ability.

Position 3 : IZA THE FANGED

Iza the Fanged is a Earth Monster that can attack the target with ranged attacks and has Sneak Ability and Scavenger Ability from level 1. The most important reason why I added Iza the Fanged to my team was that it has the Scavenger Ability and when any monster died in the battle, it would gain 1 health, and since all monsters in this battle would have the Rebirth Ability, its health could increase significantly before moving to the first position. Also, since it had the Sneak Ability, it will target the last monster on the opposing team, and I believed that those monsters will have the Tank Heal Ability. I put Iza the Fanged in the third position.

  • Sneak Ability : Targets the last Unit on the enemy Team instead of the first Unit.
  • Scavenger Ability : Gains 1 max health each time any unit dies.

Position 4 : VENARI SEEDSMITH

Venari Seedsmith is a Earth Monster that can attack the target with ranged attacks and has Scavenger Ability from level 1. The most important reason for adding Venari Seedsmith to my team was almost the same as why I added Iza the Fanged to my team. Also, Venari Seedsmith having 3 ranged attacks was a big advantage so I put it in the fourth position.

  • Scavenger Ability : Gains 1 max health each time any unit dies.

Position 5: QUEEN MYCELIA

Queen Mycelia is an Earth Monster that can attack the target with a magic attack and has Protect Ability and Amplify Ability at level 2. The most important reason why I added Queen Mycelia to my team was because it has the Amplify Ability, because with the Amplify Ability, all enemy Melee Attack Monsters and Magic Attack Monsters will take 1 extra back damage. And if the opposing player prefers Magic Attack Monsters, the Amplify Ability will most likely be an ability that the opposing player was not expecting and will completely disrupt their strategy. And I put Queen Mycelia in the fifth position.

  • Protect Ability : All friendly Units gain +2 Armor.
  • Amplify Ability : Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy units by 1.

Position 6: GOBLIN PSYCHIC

Goblin Psychic is an Earth Monster that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has Tank Heal Ability and Affliction Ability from level 4. The most important reasons why I added Goblin Psychic to my team is that it has the Tank Heal Ability and Affliction Ability. And I put Goblin Psychic in the last position.

  • Tank Heal Ability : Restores a third of max health to the Unit in the first position each round.
  • Affliction Ability : When this Unit hits a target, it has a 50% chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed.

I would like to point out that I specifically do not use cards with 2 or more magic attacks in this battle, because monsters with 3 or more magic attacks will take some back damage even if they have the Void Ability. I would also like to point out that I determine my team's lineup based on the abilities and health of the monsters.

BATTLE COMMENTS

You can watch the entire battle from the video or from the Battle Link

I can say that the opponent player's strategy was much better than I expected. As the Summoner, Choosing Immortalis as the summoner, using 2 Monsters with the Tank Heal Ability, and putting a Monster with the Shield Ability in the first position was smart for such a battle.

Frankly, it would have been almost impossible for me to win this battle if I had not added the Amplify Ability, Affliction Ability, and Tank Heal Ability to my lineup. In particular, the Amplify Ability turned all the plans of the opposing player upside down. That's why I attach great importance to using the Amplify Ability in these types of battles. As I said above, using the Amplify Ability together with Magic Reflect, Return Fire and Throns Ability is really useful in battles. Additionally, Mycelic Infantry, which was in the first position in the opposing team thanks to the Affliction Ability, could not be healed after the 2nd round. Additionally, since all the Magic attack monsters in my team had Void Ability, they did not take damage from Magic Reflect.

In this battle, my strategy caused all enemy magic attack monsters to suffer while protecting my team's Magic Attack Monsters from back damage. Although the battle had the Born Again ruleset, it was noteworthy that it only lasted 4 rounds and while all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, 5 monsters on my team were still alive. It was also notable that although the battle lasted only 4 rounds, Iza the Fanged and Venari Seedsmith had 16 health at the end of the battle. This is exactly why I attach great importance to including the Scavenger Ability in my lineup in battles with the Born Again Ruleset.

What do you think about the battle and my strategy? I would be very happy if you write your thoughts in the comments.
