SPS maximalism #1 Intro

The idea of publishing this manifesto was conceived as a celebration, in honour of several years of learning and mastering the mindset that I have established at the beginning of 2024. Everything that follows is a new phase of my life that I want to share with you. This article is an introduction to SPS maximalism and everything that follows is written in general and personal terms.

Who am I?

I'm primarily a milenial hardcore gamer, father and engineer. Hardcore gamer means I have over 30 years of competitive gaming experience in PC games of all genres, board games and trading card games. I have experienced all the evolutions of the video game industry. I've been into the pro-gaming scene, participated in many tournaments and ended my MTG career on PRO-TOUR. For the past few years I have been doing everything I can to ensure that my family can one day in tommorrow world make a living by participating in the Splinterlands ecosystem.

The original idea was to play2earn gaming in general - blockchain gaming showed me a way to take stock of all the experiences so far. But after a few years of research, I can safely say that I'm not interested in other play2earn games.

What is Splinterlands?

A collectible card game running on the Hive blockchain. It probably needs no introduction to most of you. But I'll explain why this project is unique and how I look at it.

1. It's a blockchain game, it's been running for years and it's one of the first NFT games ever. It runs on the Hive and its transactions make up a significant portion of the total traffic on the network
2. It's a pioneer in play2earn gaming, pushing the limits of what's possible in the industry.
3. It's a project with experienced developers at its back who are true to the long-term idea of creating the most successful blockchain game ever.
4. The game has simple and fun mechanics and an extensive ecosystem, including a large number of game asets. Hundreds of different NFT cards forming the basis of the game, make the game diverse and interesting not only for players but also for collectors.
5. What started as fun has grown into a passion over the years. Like others who have survived the bearmarket-bullmarket cycle, I no longer see this project as just a hobby, but also as an investment opportunity.

What is SPS?

Splintershards is the governance token of the Splinterlands ecosystem and the key to almost every gate in this world. You can use it to vote on important aspects of the game's future, it unlocks the full potential of the reward system in ranked games and can be leased for these purposes, and you can convert it at the current exchange rate to the in-game currency DEC, in which NFTs are traded on the marketplace. In addition to the SPS rewards for staking, you earn vouchers for holding it, which you use to claim discounts on various presale events or purchases.

So far, the distribution phase is still ongoing and this token can be obtained in various ways. You can win it in ranked games and tournaments, get it as a reward for holding certain asets, or as a reward for staking. It can also be bought on various CEX, DEX and Defi protocols.

This is the first part of my publication about the Splinterlands ecosystem, my vision and my journey. At the same time, I take these articles as a personal reminder of why it makes sense to accumulate SPS and like to enjoy the past here, with a smile on my face in the bud. Whether those moments be somber or joyful.
I am a member of the Splinterlands community for the 5th year and believe we are on the horizon of great things. I'm enjoying the ride up and down and trying to slice as much of the SPS pie as possible - considering my income, expenses and current living situation.

Maybe I'm a dreamer, a lunatic, a fool. But I believe I'm not alone in this, and frankly the rest of you can think what you want about it.
