BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! - "Broken Arrows".....

In my continued effort to bring you low quality, repetitive, cyclical, drivel on a weekly basis, in a change from the precious metals related rhetoric i usually bang on about, i now offer to you my loyal followers, a bang average #splinterlands blog.

Without much thought, or deep contemplation, ill be sharing with you few brave souls that have taken the time to read this post, my weekly BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!. The "share your battle" challange has ended, where the @splinterlands team asked you to share a battle with a specific monster, and now its more about a specific ruleset. This new weekly challenge definitely has its upside, as it allows a wider audience to take part, even when their battle decks are limited.

This week the team over at #splinterlands has asked us to share a battle with the ruleset "Broken Arrows". As the name suggests, all monsters taking part in the battle, or more to the point the monster that are no longer taking part in the battle all have the ranged attacks.

With a large amount of monsters now completely discounted from being used, it becomes even more important to pick a good combination of monsters to battle witb

RANGED ATTACK The character attacks from a distance. Unable to attack from the front row. Damage is assigned to the enemy Armor before health is affected. Chance to miss.

Lets go play #splinterlands...... Its not like you can pick and choose the rulesets for every battle! After playing what seemed like my full allocation of 50 battles, i finally came across the ruleset i was waiting for:

You habe two choices when playing the "broken arrows" ruleset - Melee or Magic... My go to Summoner would usually be Alric Stormbringer and the +1 magic he brings. With such a low mana game (16) and checking out my opponents previous battle choives, i decided to ho down the melee route myself.

My Daria Dragonscale uses 4 mana instead of the usual 3 of my other summoners, but does allow me to use the dragon monsters in unison with anyother splinter.

I was toying with the idea of maximising my monster and putting in a few low points monsters, but in the end I went for a big heavy hitting tank and probably my favourite monster - my Manticore. For good measure, i threw in my 0 mana monsters just to protect my rear end.... Good job i did, because they sacrificed themselves for the good of the cause, and gave my fro t ended attack enough time to do their thing.

In the end it turned out to be a far more comfortable victory than i first thought. My Mycelic Infantry doing some serious damge with my Darias +1 melee attack. My Maticores "thorns" ability sorted out my opponents sneak attackers then mopped up with its reach ability and +4 attack points.

Probably not the greatest of team set ups, but suprisingly effective for this specific battle scenario. Given a complete do-over, and if truth be told, i probably would never choose this same cobo again. Would you??
