A New Way to Compete: Land Production Leaderboards in Splinterlands

One thing I’ve learned about myself over the years is that I’m quietly competitive. It’s probably what has kept me grinding in Splinterlands since the very beginning. I enjoy the progression, the optimization, and—maybe most of all—seeing where I stand relative to others.

That’s why I was genuinely excited to see the new land production leaderboard developed by @beaker007.

Why This Leaderboard Matters

When land first launched, we had some basic leaderboard views:

  • Rankings by Region
  • Aggregate totals for Grain
  • Aggregate totals for Research

Those were useful, but they missed a critical piece of the puzzle:

how well are we actually producing resources?

Land isn’t just about ownership or totals—it’s about efficiency, scale, and operational execution. Until now, there wasn’t a clean way to compare that side of the game across players.

That’s exactly the gap this new leaderboard fills.

Pleasantly Surprised by the Results

After diving into the data, I’ll admit—I was a bit surprised by how well I’m doing. Seeing my name ranked highly across multiple production categories was both validating and motivating.

Of course, having 400+ plots operational certainly helps, but it’s still reassuring to see that the way I’ve deployed cards, DEC, and production choices is translating into meaningful output.

One result that really stood out to me was my ranking in Research production. I expected to be solid, but not that high. It also highlighted something interesting about the broader player base.

Different Strategies, Same Game

The leaderboard makes it very clear that many players remain heavily focused on Aura, largely because of its role in crafting items that can be sold on the market. That makes total sense—Aura has clearer short-term liquidity pathways right now.

My own positioning toward Research reflects a longer-term bet. Seeing that contrast play out in real data is fascinating and reinforces how many different strategies can coexist within the land economy.

Community Tools Make the Game Better

This is another great example of how third-party community developers elevate the entire ecosystem. Tools like this:

  • Add transparency
  • Encourage healthy competition
  • Help players identify where they can improve

Most importantly, they deepen engagement without requiring changes to the core game.

I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this leaderboard as land continues to evolve. As new cards, mechanics, and sinks are introduced, these rankings will shift—and adapting to those shifts is part of what makes land so compelling.

For me, land remains the cornerstone of the Splinterlands ecosystem. Seeing the community rally around it with better analytics and visibility only strengthens that conviction.

Huge kudos to @beaker007 for continuing to support the community with meaningful tools. This is exactly the kind of contribution that keeps long-term players invested and engaged.
