Do You Know Anasth Soothsayer?

Cover.png
Anasth Soothsayer is a unit that many players overlook because of his low magic attack. Anasth Soothsayer only deal 1 magic attack and have no armor. On paper, it look weak and slow compared to supports that has Tank Heal and higher magic attack. But in real battles, this unit often become the heart of the team. If it stays alive, it can heal other units which keeps them alive. This decreases the final damage your enemies can do per round. When fights turn messy with things like poisons, stuns and debuffs, Cleanse can keep things in check. Anasth Soothsayer is an all in one support able to heal and cleanse your team off the debuffs. Many games are decided not by who hit harder but by who can keep their front tanks alive and clean. This unit shine in those moments and slowly push your team ahead while keeping the enemies in check.

  • Anasth Soothsayer is a pure support Unit built to keep your frontline standing. With only 1 magic damage it is not here to kill, but with Cleanse and Tank Heal it protect your main tank every round. The 4 speed help it act early and Dodge give it a small chance to survive longer in backline pressure. This unit excel in long battles where debuffs can be removed to protect your tanks. Dispel remove dangerous buffs and Lookout protect your team from sneak threats. Place it before the last unit to maximize the Lookout ability. It combo very well with high health tanks. Pair Anasth Soothsayer with a strong front but make sure that the tank does not have any Taunt. There's a weird interaction with Lookout and Taunt where even if the enemy has Sneak or Snipe or anything that Lookout ability should reduce the damage with, it wouldn't reduce those damage if the unit you have has Taunt.

Abilities

Cleanse.pngCleanse: Removes all negative effects on the Unit in the first position on the friendly team.
Cleanse remove negative effects from your front most unit. This is huge against poison, stun, slow and weaken. In many rules, one bad debuff decide the whole match. This is especially useful in rules like Noxious Fumes or Global Warming where your units get damage every round with debuffs.

Tank Heal.pngTank Heal: Restores a third of max health to the Unit in the first position each round.
Tank Heal restore health to your front unit each turn. It works best with high health tanks and shielded Units. In long fights, this ability feel like extra lives. When paired with Repair it become very hard for the enemy to break through your tanks.

Lookout.pngLookout: Adjacent Units receive 1 less damage from attackers with Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity. Additionally, all units take half damage from ambushes as long as a Lookout Unit is on your team.
Lookout reduce damage from abilities like sneak and opportunity attacks on your backline. This protect Anasth Soothsayer and other support units. It is very good in rules where enemies use a lot of Sneak units and strategies. It help your back line survive longer.

Dispel.pngDispel: When this Unit hits an enemy, it clears all positive status effects on that enemy.
Dispel remove positive buffs from enemies. This is strong against enemies with Bloodlust in order to stop them from scaling. This also works against units with Life Leech and Scavenger. It stops a lot of enemy snowball strategies. In modern ranked battles where buffs are everywhere, Dispel can stop these strong strategies as well.

Dodge.pngDodge: Has a 25% chance of evading melee or ranged attacks.
Dodge give Anasth Soothsayer a chance to avoid attacks. This ability, I think, is not as useful because you always put Anasth Soothsayer on a safe position so Dodge doesn't really help a lot unless on emergency. Still, with 4 speed and Dodge, it can actually work sometimes. Every miss is one more round of healing and cleansing. It's good ability but I don't really see you use this a lot if you're smart on positioning and unit management.
