The new collection rating thing on Splinterlands seems kind of like bullshit. It'd be like if I held a talent show and said you couldn't get first place unless you spent at least $10,000 on your tuba or whatever the fuck you're doing in the talent show.

No, the user has a rating based on how "strong" their collection is. You need a certain collection rating to get to each league. Probably to prevent people from farming rewards too much.
