'Energy Prism (Ver. 2) - New Original Music! Part 2 of 4 - Adding a B Section, Extending the Song! Electronic/Synthpop/Instrumental + Walkthrough!

As promised, I continued writing

and working on this last night and wound up adding an entirely new B section which has some drums and a completely different progression. Once again, this will be my submission for this week's Splinterland's Music/Lore contest, when it's finished. There are still some rough changes that I need to tweak, like the space between certain sections, lasting 16 bars instead 8, along with some missing cymbal hits and some new swells/crescendos to lead into our new B section. But, the general idea is there, so let’s go through the additions!

As you can see in the overview

above, the song is almost twice as long, with those big Neon Green sections added. There are two new tracks, 9 and 10, which provide the drums. I’m not sure if these will be the final/only sounds for the percussion, I’m gonna continue working on that tonight, but it’s a good representation/placeholder for now. In Track 2, the chord progression in the Green is as follows: First 8 bars - Cminor (our tonic), Ab, Fmajor, Eb, Cmin, Dmin, Fmin, Gmin. Second 8 Bars - Cmajor, Aminor, Fminor, Ebmajor, Cmin, Ab, Fmin, Bb/G. There are some substitutions there that give it an epic/slightly more hopeful vibe, as opposed to the darker Orange sections.

The melody line in

Track 8 needs to be edited a bit; there are the ascending little minor 2nds diddys, which sounded cool when I first added them (on laptop speakers), but when listening on a bigger sound system, I realized they weren’t as obvious, and just sort of muddied things up, so they’ll be changing to single notes probably. I also didn’t realize the song was almost 6 minutes long, probably the longest one I’ve done for these contests, haha.
