Splinterlands Sundays!: Fatigued Season but the Future is Bright!

It was what seemed like a very quick Season for me as my ability to play every day was severely limited given what I have been working on with the family. However, it felt like a weird Season as despite my lack of playing, I found myself in the Top 50 of the leaderboards for most of the Season. I was only playing to get my Daily Quests completed as I continue to work on obtaining more resources like Reward Edition cards in order to maximize them for my Collection. They continue to seem more scarce so I avoid missing the capability of accumulating more resources for the future of the game.

Most of the Season was played on my mobile device thanks to the development of the mobile website which has been great for quick battles while on the move. I am happy to say that I did not have any issues that led to losses during the entire Season. I only had 2 or 3 instances that the battle did not load but given the great technology that is Blockchain, I was able to go back and see the match just as it played out. Transparency and immutability are truly great for competitive games!

As I approached the end of the Season, I found myself about 200 points below the highest Champions Division with little inspiration to continue forward. I felt that I was somewhat fatigued from the last couple of Season which have continued to become more competitive. The last 2 days became very difficult to complete my Daily Quests which made it somewhat frustrating and that did not help my eagerness to finish the Season higher. However, considering that the difference in Division is 30 additional “loot boxes” and now most don’t have cards, every chance to get cards is good so I worked on getting into the highest Division.

The news from the Splinterlands development team of its updated roadmap was also published in the final days of the Season and while I still need to read it a couple of more times, it was clear to me that accumulating resources like DEC in addition to Reward cards will surely have its benefits in the long term. It is incredible that we will soon be looking for Real Estate on the ecosystem which, given myself struggles in real life Real Estate as of late, I am not looking forward to. However, I think the items mentioned by that post demonstrate how the game and community will continue to evolve. With the growth of players we have seen and the abilities to leverage our Collections, I look forward to seeing how I position myself for the future of the game!

With 30 minutes left to the end of the Season, I was able to sneak into the top Division but still well off the Top 50 on the leaderboard! There were times when I thought I would not make it but having some luck and one key winning streak made it happen with some time to spare. I was still about 200 points off being in the Top 50 so I stopped as soon as I achieved the threshold for the second straight Season. I have known for some time that I am not made to be in the Top 50 except for the fact that I have a high leveled Collection.

My Energy Capture Rate (ECR) has been destroyed due to this late Season grind for the best rewards!. I am sure that we continue to break records on players and games played as I was barely receiving 50 DEC for each win at the end of the Season. This continues to signal the scarcity of the resources available in the game’s ecosystem so it is very encouraging for those of us that have built presence and Collections early on. With the announced changes, I am sure that the community will continue to evolve and grow as it seems there will be more ways to engage in the ecosystem. The future looks bright!
